    Up close, Rude can see he’s older than he thought. There are fine lines around his eyes and the corners of his mouth. A weariness in the slope of his shoulders that Rude relates to. He was probably quite a looker once. Still might be if he lost the attitude and got that cigarette out of Rude's face.

    The whore looks him up and down. “You that bounty hunter Corneo’s on about?”

    “I am,” Rude says. “Put that damn thing out.”
