Katherine "Kat" Parker (or if you knew her well enough; Katerina Romanova) is sick to death of being ignored by her mother. Growing up, her relationship with her mother was never normal, but now they didn't even have one. And Kat's way qualified to become an Avenger. Right?
Nick Fury definitely thought so... back in 2011. But someone said no, and Kat was pushed to the sidelines. But now it's 2015. And Kat's not losing her chance this time. She wants the family her mother gained, and she wants to live her life as herself. Besides, she's got powers now!
(Plus, a very valid reason to want revenge on Ultron!)
And it's Kat's chance to shine... not as Malinovyy. Not as Katerina Romanova. And certainly not as Katherine Parker. It's time for... well, she'll have to work on the name. But it's her time. And she will not let that chance slip away again.

Dealing with a distant mother, a nerdy-Tony-Stark-obsessed little brother, fighting alongside (and against?) a team of superheroes, a massive crush on her teammate, quite a few hidden secrets, and whatever else the universe decides to throw at her; in the end, Kat Parker really just wants to see One Direction live.
