Summary
Willow Byers was 17 years old when she 'jumped ship' and left her home for good. She found a steady group of marauders who were just as lost as her, and together they hijacked a boat. Together they sailed, robbing ships and taking hostages and hunting bounties on their fellow pirates. No seaside town saw them more than once. Willow had everything she could've asked for; her crew was her family, her ship was her home.

Mike had been having a perfectly normal day. At least, normal by his standards. Classes from 8 to 12, work from 12 to 5, pretending today might be the day he starts hitting the gym from 5 to 5:30, home to binge watch bad tv with Will by 6. Will had ordered them a pizza for dinner, something they’d done probably 10 times already since moving into their new student housing at the start of the semester last month. Mike’s life was then promptly flipped and fucked the second he answered the door.
There, plain as day in a pizza-boy uniform, was Mike. Face to face with himself.Things get chaotic pretty fast after that.

Summary
Michelle Wheeler and Willow Byers have always been inseparable. The kind of friends that everyone looks at and goes, "There's no way those two don't end up eighty years old, in rocking chairs on some front porch somewhere, cackling at nothing because they've been best friends for longer than they can remember". At some point, they probably would have agreed with you (except for the 'eighty years old' part, that might have bummed them out).
Except that at fourteen, Michelle was the world's biggest idiot and managed to lose the most precious person in her life.
Oh, and not to mention that throughout the rest of her teen years, Michelle realized she was actually in love with Willow Byers in a very gay, non-best-friend, very homosexual, definitely not platonic, certainly lesbian way.
The thing about Michelle Wheeler, though, is that she's kind of (read: extremely) oblivious (she's also full of gay panic and loves lists, but that's besides the point). Oblivious to, say, someone's reciprocated feelings. Oblivious to the fact that staging an elaborate plan to remedy things with the person who hates you might be more work than is necessary.
But, hey, what could possibly go wrong?

Summary
It's 1989, Michelle and Willow's senior year of high school. Former True Directions graduates Karen & Ted Wheeler reach out to True Directions when they suspect that their daughter Michelle is a lesbian and that her childhood best friend Willow Byers is one too. Desperate to save them from damnation, Karen orchestrates a plan with Ted and Lonnie to send them to True Directions.
Michelle, who is now a cheerleader with a Jock boyfriend (Who is a terrible kisser by the way), is totally oblivious despite her longing gazes at her bestfriend Willow.
Willow is aware that she is a lesbian and that she is in love with Michelle, which makes this all the more mortifying.
