Jacobi took a shaky breath, his hands resting on Kepler’s now bare chest. “Yeah, just… can we— can we pretend like this is the first time?”
Kepler kissed behind his ear and swayed with him for a moment. “I would like that.
“What would you have said to me if you really had wanted to take me home in that bar when we met?” Jacobi murmured, hooking his fingers into Kepler’s waistband. “What would you have done?”
“Ah. Well I wouldn’t have taken you home from that bar on that day. It was 3pm and you were very drunk.”
“Okay, a different bar. Any bar.”
Kepler frowned slightly. “I don’t want you to be a stranger; I want you to be–... We can still make this the first time that counts.”AKA after the events of The Channel Fades to Snow, they figure out how to be together again.

Circling behind the sofa and looking down at Warren with dark eyes he said, “It’s about discipline. And–” His smile crept back onto his face, “–It’s about fun. How does that sound?”

Summary
The problem was this: Kepler wanted to be a part of Jacobi’s life. To be a part of it, yes, but not to own it.
“You’re not my commanding officer anymore, Warren,” Jacobi said when he came home. It was late and he was drunk, but not quite as late, not quite as drunk as he would’ve been once upon a time. “You’re not even my… You’re just my flatmate.”
Yeah. Yeah, okay.
AKA I don't like the "death as redemption" trope, so I decided Kepler needs to live with his mistakes.

Summary
They both caught their breath in unison, staring at their hands as though they were alien appendages. The same tingling, pleasurable feeling coursed between them, and Kepler curled his fingers around Jacobi's, his heart racing at how good it felt. It was like a continuous, subtle charge straight to the aching core of his arousal, and he never wanted it to end.
Nothing he'd ever experienced was like this. He should be freaking out, but it felt so *right*.
“Sir...” Kepler looked up at Jacobi's awestruck voice. Their eyes met, and Kepler saw that his pupils were blown wide. “What is this?”

Kepler and Jacobi hunt the plant monster, but trigger its newly evolved defence mechanism: a cloud of pollen that allows it to escape. Unfortunately, the agents inhale a little too much of this pollen, and are helpless to resist its dizzying effects...
Set just before the plant monster's untimely demise in canon.

Summary
There is a small number of available courses of action to take when you find yourself locking eyes with a hooded viper. A normal person might, for example, stop dead in their tracks. If they're smart, they would back away slowly, keeping the necessary eye contact to ensure the snake stays put from where it's hissing at them from. Snakes can bite even with their heads chopped off, fully. Something about their muscle memory. Or the brain still running after its connection to the stem had been severed?
Jacobi isn't really a snake expert.
(In which Daniel Jacobi messes up on a whim, and is now paying for it with his sanity. Warren Kepler gives him a framework of discipline and regrets it. After all, when a snake bites you, you start getting nervous even around lizards.)
