“Well, yeah, now, but not then!” Roach shouted back. He sighed and raised his hands, collecting himself as he slowly approached his partner again. “I am asking for some paint, and some gasoline for the lawnmower. That is all, Izzy Hands, I will do everything else myself.”
Izzy’s jaw worked in that way that showed he was trying to hold back his frustration. “It is not a matter–”
“Izzy, if you say resource management, so help me I will run through one of your tripwires.
Izzy closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “Fuck. Alright. Just tell me why.”

Summary
Stede has been to plenty of leather bars in his time. He’s seen the harnesses and chaps and heavy floggers that apparently indicate a Dom in that world. None of that has ever particularly appealed to Stede and he sneered at them behind his drink and his blank expression. Now perhaps he thinks those men should be here, should see firsthand what makes a Dom. It isn’t harnesses, or floggers, it’s an attitude of mind, the knowledge of power, the subtle expectation that his boy will please him whether the boy understands it or not.
After a scene goes wrong with Frenchie, Stede asks for Izzy's help.

“Farmer’s Guardian?” Fang asks. Fang’s always going to try and see a positive side to everything.
“Regular Guardian, I reckon,” Izzy dismisses, “And thinks that he can come out here and show all the uneducated farmers how to do their own fucking job that they’ve been doing for decades. Don’t think he’d know which end of a lambing sheep to go at even if there were two hooves sticking out.”

As Lucius and Izzy become more comfortable exchanging affections, Izzy's worry grows... If Lucius isn't in sight at all times, how can he make sure he's protected?
Pete is actually advancing on him. He really has taught the other pirate well.
A sweep, then Pete feints, and as Izzy reaches after him with his sword the novice pirate trips him. Izzy stumbles backward, hits the deck-
And there he is, blade to Izzy’s throat, and Izzy’s proud and hot all over when the man has the nerve to smirk at him from across the weapon.
“Not to be cliche, but…” Pete murmurs, and then his blade moves. He uses it to tilt Izzy’s chin up so they’re looking at one another properly, and Izzy knows he’s done for. He knows how wide and dark his eyes must be as they meet Pete’s.

“Fang?” Roach called out, walking down the deck, the empty tankard falling to the deck behind him.
“Roach! Are the invaders gone?”
“Yeah! The party’s back on. Can’t you hear it?”
“Haul me up!”
Roach was already pulling the dinghy up. It didn’t take long, since it was just stowed over the side. Once Fang was standing solidly on the deck, he put the goat down and let her toddle off. Roach was smiling down at the little thing when strong hands took him by the cheeks and pulled him into a kiss.
“Mmm!” he squealed, surprised.
“Oh no!” Fang gasped, pulling back. “Is that bad? I should’ve asked.”
“No, no. Fang, it is okay,” Roach assured him, laughing off the awkwardness. He hoped he hadn’t ruined it with his skittishness. “You just surprised me, is all. Try again?”
“Oh,” the old salt replied, his cheeks darkened with a flush that was still discernible in the colorful glow of the party lights.
This kiss was much more gentle, so soft it almost hurt. When they paused, it was hard to say who was smiling wider. Fang giggled. Roach laughed too, infected by it.

Commander Israel Hands was a ‘Vulcan’s Vulcan’, or at least that’s how Lieutenant Spriggs thought of him privately. Graduating with highest honors from the Vulcan Science Academy and attaining Kolinahr mastery at a strikingly early age, he was not the sort that normally joined Starfleet.
He could have been teaching on Vulcan or any of the far flung Vulcan colonies around the universe. He could have specialized in his field of biochemical sciences. He could have headed a Kolinahr monastery of his own.
Lucius Spriggs often wondered if he was serving some sort of personal penance.

Unknown: Is somebody there?
After resigning himself to being lost, forever, Izzy hardly knows how to respond. He doesn’t know if he even wants to be awake again, much less receiving input from an unknown person outside his tiny digital cell. All there is in Izzy’s world now is himself. And now this text from the outside.
Izzy: No. he sends out, a text string, hiding the pain and confusion behind the reliable shield of sarcasm.
Unknown: holy shit
Izzy sifts through his archives to send back an eye roll emoji. The first thing anyone says to him in- he doesn’t want to think about how much time must have passed. And what they have to say is “Holy shit.”
Unknown: You’re like, a person. Stuck in this old hunk of junk
Izzy: Yes.
Unknown: What’s your name?
It’s a simple enough question, but it hurts. His name, given to him by his crew. His crew who are gone. He knows his crew are certainly lost to him in time.

“Izzy,” said Alma again, shifting in an utterly heart-stopping fashion on the tottering stool until she was seated, mercifully in the appropriate fashion. “Are you coming with us to see the eclipse?”
Izzy looked up, eyebrows raised. “Oh, was that today? Must not have put it on my calendar. Why, is it important?”
Alma favored him with a roll of the eyes. They were undeniably Stede's eyes. An angel or demon somewhere created Stede Bonnet and crafted him to be just beautiful enough to be a threat, just smart enough to be dangerous, and just virile enough to have two children with his eyes, nose and laugh. Sometimes Izzy was reminded of these things and knew that wherever that celestial being was, it’d spent the last two years laughing at the plight of one Israel Hands.The sun disappears from the sky, and Izzy Hands bears witness--but that's not the whole story, is it?

Summary
1718. The crew think Roach has gone mad. He keeps telling them that Izzy Hands is still alive, somewhere in the back of his mind.
1818. Izzy makes toys for the children in town. The local woodcutter brings him wood, and although the townsfolk say he's crazy, Izzy finds that he doesn't really mind his company.
1918. Israel Hands comes home from the war missing a leg, and meets a particularly enthusiastic prosthetist he finds himself inexplicably drawn to.
2018. Roach moves into a dilapidated seaside cabin said to be haunted by the ghost of an old pirate. The tired old fisherman knocking on his door does look strangely familiar, but he can't quite put his finger on why. Nor do they understand why the two of them keep having vivid dreams about being buried in the ground, or why Izzy keeps wandering towards the sea in his sleep.
Perhaps this is the year they figure it out.
