Summary
He had vague memories of a time before he was a Master. He and his friend Seawatt had lived together in a world with solid ground beneath their feet. They’d gone on adventures together, and somewhere along the way, that had led to creating this civilization.
Some parts didn’t make sense—he couldn’t remember ranking up, even though he must have started as a Noob. But thinking about it too hard made his head hurt, so he tried not to. That had worked well for him so far.
Evbo starts life as a Master, never knowing the cruelty of the Noob layer. He meets Seawatt and changes nothing.

Summary
Having food had never been a concern for him, besides his brief stint in the cut-off Fighter layer. But because of Seawatt, Evbo had spent years of his life starving and was still bonier than he ought to have been. If Seawatt hadn’t been running the lab, the Champion just would have gotten someone else to do it, and he’d had nothing to do with the food situation, but still. That didn’t make it any less his fault.
If he couldn’t fix Evbo’s past, he could at least try to bring joy to his present.
This was how he found himself digging through his old journals for his mother’s chicken curry recipe.
People have started leaving food offerings to Evbo. Seawatt gets in on the trend (with a little help from EMF).

Summary
The thoughts he came out here to escape from have almost left his mind when he steps on a crystal, and a voice calls out.
“This is far enough out of the way that even the Champion shouldn’t be an issue. Evacuate everyone here until he’s out of the crystal village.”
Evbo freezes in his tracks, momentum almost sending him over the edge of the block. In all his wanderings in the crystal lands, he has never found a new message. He thought they must have all been erased somehow in the process of reintegrating the layer into Civilization, but there is no way this recording is recent.
After all, it’s Seawatt’s voice.
After Seawatt's death, Evbo finds a series of crystals with his voice recorded on them. It doesn't make him feel any better.

Summary
When the flesh had been consumed, organs, muscles, bone marrow and all, the remaining scraps would be tossed into the Void. With that, the player was freed from the mortal realm, their body now safely scattered throughout the community.
Evbo had thought nothing odd about this in all his years as a Noob. He knew to be careful of Pros, as they often interfered with the ceremony, but the Pros interfered in any activity a Noob might do.
It wasn’t until he ranked up that he realized eating the dead wasn’t normal on the Pro layer.
Before Evbo can revive Seawatt, he must hold a funeral. He does it the only way he knows how.

Summary
Evbo hopped onto one of the stools, his legs dangling just above the ground. “Taking me out for drinks now, are you?”
“And what’s so wrong with that?” Seawatt shot back, slipping onto his own stool. “It’s your big victory feast. You ought to be celebrating with fountains of champagne.”
“By that logic, since this is the anniversary of your crushing defeat, you should be drowning your sorrows in cheap booze.”
“There we find ourselves a shared goal: getting drunk. Who knew we had so much in common?”
A feast is held on the anniversary of the Parkour Villain’s defeat. Evbo has never really drunk before, and Seawatt helps him change that. Shenanigans ensue.

Summary
Martin’s phone was still in his pocket from earlier. He pulled it out to check the time, squinting against the brightness of the screen before the display eventually resolved into something resembling a quarter to seven on Saturday.
It ought to have been not a surprise, maybe, but at least concerning that he’d slept for close to fifteen hours straight. He tried to muster up the worry that was a requirement for being Martin Blackwood and came up empty.
He simply did not care.
After officially taking his place as Peter Lukas's assistant, Martin develops a peculiar cold.

Summary
“In the years since she became Master in all but name, a lot has changed, and yet it seems like nothing has. Pearly is as short as ever, her long-awaited growth spurt seeming less and less likely to come. Nick's been disbarred longer than he was barred in the first place.
And Maya is still terrified of what will happen when she finally finishes her training.”

Maya Fey, despite her outward enthusiasm, has never felt particularly worthy of carrying on her family legacy. Maybe being worthy is overrated. -

Summary
“Miles was finally able to tear his gaze away from von Karma, looking over to where his father and the bailiff were lying on the ground.
Except his father didn’t wear a blue suit.”
--
Miles and Phoenix spend their first DL-6 together since 2016. It goes about as smoothly as those involved thought it would - that is, something goes horribly and unexpectedly wrong.
