Summary
Riddle’s mother wasn’t a bad person. She was strict, quick to anger, and didn’t always listen to others, but she wasn’t a bad person. She had reasons for what she did. No matter what, in the end, Riddle could understand it.
And if anything…worse than usual happened, then all Riddle had to do was wait. Eventually, everything would go back to normal.
So when she adds a strange addition to the drawing room, Riddle tries his best not to worry. But all his efforts turn out to be for nothing when he sees the finished product.
Because his mother has bought a person, and suddenly nothing is normal ever again.
Riddle’s life spirals down a path of old memories and new realizations as he does whatever he can to try and fix things for his family, and more importantly- the mer his mother has imprisoned.
———————
Alternatively: Riddle deals with his mother committing a federal crime and maybe kisses a guy

Summary
Riddle Rosehearts stood in front of the mirror in Floyd’s guest room, hands clenched in the fabric of a deep red dress like it might bite him if he let go.
Floyd leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching without smiling.
“You can back out,” he said lightly. “I won’t tease. Promise.”
Or Riddle in drag(ish), and Floyd being the supportive "friend" he is!

Summary
Riddle wouldn’t meet his soulmate until his first year at NRC.
The entrance ceremony was already in full swing, and Riddle had been focused, listening intently to every word from his future professors, mentally noting every rule, every expectation.
Then someone grabbed his hair.
“It’s red, but it’s not hot!” an obnoxious voice said, tugging at the strands like a child testing a toy.
Riddle’s reaction was immediate, reflexive. Without hesitation, he drew his magic pen, set the boy’s sleeve ablaze, and promptly hurled him across the room.
Gasps filled the hall. Riddle was trembling with fury, vision narrowing. How dare he? Who the hell did he think he was?
It took two teachers to hold him back before he could lunge again. His heart pounded, magic sparking at his fingertips.
And then—finally—he looked.
The idiot who’d just ruined his first impression was grinning up at him from the floor, still half-smoking from the fire spell. And the moment their eyes met—
Riddle’s world exploded into color.
