“Will you trust me to know what I’m doing?” Hannibal picks up one of Will’s hands to bring them closer together, even if Will is begrudging to do so he eventually lets in and leans into Hannibal’s arms. “Please?”
Shivering at the word “please”, Will sighs and rubs his face into Hannibal’s chest before telling him, “If you don’t come find me, I'm going to get myself locked back in here and kill you.”
“Don’t worry, I don’t plan on staying away for long.”

“Lunch break.” Will answers, “And I thought it would be nice to have lunch with my husband.”
Standing up, Hannibal brushes his hands on his pants before coming over and kissing his husband. Cupping Will’s face and running his thumbs over the man’s sharp jawline and beard. He turns his head and kisses the cut on Will’s cheek before pulling away. Will takes one of the hands on his face so he can press a kiss to the palm.

(As an Ojibwe person knowing that Dalish elves are based on Plains Indians, I wrote this to work out some of my frustrations.)

One little change, and Emrys Lavellan is forced to question his burgeoning relationship with a Tevinter aristocrat where slavery of elves was a matter of course, taken for granted, and dismissed away as trivial; Dorian Pavus can no longer dismiss the practice away with one of those former slaves right there, in Skyhold, wrenching his complacency out into the harsh light of scrutiny.
An AU 'around the edges' re-telling of some of the events of "Here Lies the Abyss" that picks up shortly after "Strings". By the end, most of the Inner Circle companions and a few extras will put in an appearance.
