“What–? How–? Dew,” Aether repeats for a third time. “What the fuck is going on, how are you even here right now? You’re supposed to be in America with the band, everyone has been blowing up my phone looking for you, you just vanished off the face of the Earth. Sweetheart, what happened?”
Dew shakes his head where he’s buried it in Aether’s neck, not having the words to explain or reassure right now. He just tightens his arms and legs where they’ve wrapped around his mate, pulling them closer together even though there is no closer they can get. Dew wants to burrow himself into Aether’s chest, tie their hearts and souls together so they can never be separated again.
