It couldn’t have been much more than 5 minutes into the set when Vroom Vroom started playing. Shane’s hands shot above his head and he started jumping in time with the music. He yelled “LET’S FUCKING GOOOOO” before having a chance to be embarrassed. He turned around to look at Ilya, as if to say “Are you hearing this??? It’s my song!” and Ilya smiled back so fucking fondly Shane felt his eyes well up with tears. As if to say, “Yeah, sweetheart, it’s your song, I know, baby.” As if to say, “I love watching you have fun.” As if to say, “Nothing in this world makes me happier than seeing you, you specifically, happy.” “As if to say, “I love you, I love you, I love you.”

Summary
Shane freezes so completely that even his breathing falters. Every instinct buried deep inside his prey-animal heart surges awake at once, and his pulse begins hammering against his ribs hard enough that he swears the entire tunnel must be shaking with it. The sound comes again, slow and deliberate, accompanied by the faint whisper of feet dragging across loose soil. Through the opening beside him, a shadow briefly glides across, blocking the sunlight, before disappearing again.
Silence settles over Shane as he stays still, frozen. It lasts one heartbeat and then two, before a quiet hiss curls through the air behind him, familiar enough to make every hair on the back of his neck stand upright.
"Well, hello, зайчик," the man's voice says, an amused warmth in his voice that leaves Shane flustered. A low chuckle follows before he continues, "What a pretty little tail you have there."
