Work Text:

This wasn't supposed to be more than a one-time thing. Kaeya can admit to when he's made a mistake.

Sleeping with a foreign enemy should be on the Favonius rulebook as the no. 1 worst thing you could do as arbitrary law enforcers and peacekeepers of a particular nation, let alone acquiring one as a full-time lover, and a Harbinger of the Tsaritsa probably counts as more than just a foreign enemy. It definitely would be an official rule if Jean had a say in what was printed on that thing, if only because she never stops worrying about him, the bundle of nerves that she is.

But he sees Ajax sleeping soundly beside him, snoring like a fontainean tractor engine, back exposed and dead to the world, and he can't help but think that maybe he's a little worth it. Maybe there's a word for what this is, but he'd be hard pressed to consider it a mistake at all.

Stupid human sentimentality, making Kaeya have feelings.

He drags a hand through his bright hair, scraping with his nails gently, revelling in the way Ajax subconsciously leans into the touch. He's so trusting, so forthcoming with his feelings. It's almost baffling how he's in the Fatui at all, with their track record.

He moves closer to his lover, moving his arm to wrap around his bare torso, nuzzling into Ajax's chest. He feels more than hears Ajax groan in response, shifting his own arms to encompass Kaeya's form.

"Good morning," Ajax says groggily, eyes still closed. He promptly buries his face into Kaeya's hair.

"Hey," he whispers into Ajax's skin, inexplicably giddy. "You're normally awake before I am. Did I tire you out too much?"

Ajax scoffs, breath mussing the hair atop Kaeya's head. "Hardly. It's the extra training drills, I'm telling you."

Kaeya smiles, humming in faux agreement. "Sure. Because that's tired you out before."

    "It has!"

Kaeya laughs, and crawls his way up Ajax's body, slotting himself in place. He crosses his arms over Ajax's clavicle, and leans his head on top of them. "You can say I was good, baby. I'd appreciate the compliment."

Ajax cracks an eye open to see him smile smugly above him. He puffs his cheeks out, pouting, and a slight flush grows on his face. "I mean.. it was good. You were good. You were great. Amazing."

    "Thank you."

"But that's not why I'm sleeping in."

    "Okay, I believe you."

Kaeya laughs as Ajax groans, rolling them over on the bed to hover over him, glaring half-heartedly as Kaeya tries to stifle more giggles under his palm. Ajax watches him and sighs, shaking his head before smiling himself.

"You're annoying," he says, and promptly smothers Kaeya with kisses all over his face, exaggerating each kiss with smooching noises and making Kaeya laugh even harder.

"Stop! Stop!" Kaeya says, grinning hard as Ajax's kisses double in speed and quantity. He takes Ajax's face with both hands to push him away, and pulls him back in to kiss him properly on the lips.

When they pull apart, Kaeya stares at his lover's face, recounting every detail he's long archived into his memory, stroking his thumb against his cheek, and watches as Ajax does the same. Ajax huffs again, turning his head to kiss Kaeya's palm.

    "Hey," Ajax whispers.

"Hey," Kaeya whispers back. "Love you."

    "That's a given."

Kaeya flicks his forehead. "Who's annoying now."

"Still you," Ajax grins, and dives in to kiss Kaeya stupid.
