Doppelgänger Dilemma

Summary:

Cassie is calling for help. But there’s two voices.

Work Text:

Roxy would tear that damn thing apart with her own claws if she had to to keep her champ safe.

She knew her champ didn’t mean it, Cassie was… tricked, yeah. That thing tricker her into shutting her down, that’s why she was so apologetic when she was being shut down! But that was okay, Roxy knew Cassie didn’t mean it. She was… scared. Confused, looking for someone. Gregory? Not the… best, friend (she’d throttle the damn brat to get her eyes back if she had to!) but apparently he was a friend.

Roxy had- she did NOT fail! She did NOT fail to destroy that thing that chased after Cassie! It had simply realized it couldn’t defeat the ultimate protector that she was and gone after a smaller weaker target!! Like the coward it was. But she wasn’t far behind, she swears!! Roxy just had to rest for a moment. Rebooting took a while, if she were at the top of her game that thing would be gone in an instant!!

These winding rock caverns were familiar yet unfamiliar to the wolf animatronic, but the distant sound of Cassie and the thing running helped her locate the proper path. The scrapes against the rock wall were completely intentional, she needed to lose the momentum to turn!

“Someone, help!! I’m stuck, the elevator fell!!” Roxy could hear Cassie, she was right there, she was in danger!! She had to help, she couldn’t just leave the girl there! Especially if she were stuck in an elevator, it could… it could break down further!

“Cassie!! I’m coming, hold on!!” Roxy cried. She was close she was so-

“Roxy, help!!” Roxy froze. Cassie’s voice, again, but… down another path?! “Don’t listen to her, it can- it copies my voice!! I’m down here!!”

The wolf stood still, tilting her head back and forth. Both Cassies were yelling. They were both terrified, she ached to help them, to hug them and tell them everything was going to be okay, but one was a fake.

“Roxy help!!” “The elevator’s creaking, please!!” “My leg’s stuck, I can’t move!!” “HELP!!!”

Only one was real, one was her little champ and the other would probably try to destroy her, but which one?? Which one??? Which one??? She wished she could see, then she could see Cassie and KNOW, but now—

“ROXY, HELP!!!”

She had to make a choice. And pray she wasn’t letting the little girl down. Choose. Which was real.

She growled. And made a choice.

“If this is you, Cassie, I’m coming!”

She just had to hope it was the real Cassie.
