Work Text:

The sound of Kanades' quiet laugh replayed itself over and over in Honamis head. The image of her soft smile was engraved in her mind, the way her lips subtly curved upwards, the way her eyes wrinkled at their corners. Honami felt her face flush as she tossed and turned in bed, struggling to fall asleep with her mind plagued with memories of the events that had happened earlier in the day.

It wasn’t like anything important or peculiar had happened, she had just gone over to visit Kanade and do her housekeeping as usual. She had said something, something Kanade must've found funny, as she had laughed. She laughed, and Honami felt something, a feeling she couldn't place in the moment.

Honami was overcome with emotion. She couldn’t tell you exactly what it was she was feeling, but it was strong. It reminded her of the mornings where she’d wake to Shibao asleep on top of her, smothering her in warmth and love. The feeling was similar to that; warm, smothering, a pleasant feeling, even it made her struggle to breathe.

She laid in her bed, the memory and the way it made her feel stuck on her mind. There was only one word that would come to mind when she tried to place the feeling. Honami rolled onto her side and shoved her head in her pillow at the thought of it, her face warm and red. In hindsight, it was obvious what it was she was feeling, she was just embarrassed by the thought.

While her heart was still racing, and her cheeks were still flushed, Honami felt herself relax. She could feel herself slipping into sleep now that she had figured out what it was making her feel like that. She could think more about it in the morning, and figure out what she'd say to Kanade. But for now, she just wanted to stay under her blankets, listening to the breathing of Shibao down on the foot of her bed, and fall asleep.
