Chapter Text

The storm passed hours ago, and the apartment felt warm for the first time all day. Everyone migrated to the living room again, sprawled across couches, chairs, and blankets.

Everyone except Kageyama and Hinata, who slipped away with a quiet
“Uh—we’re gonna film a quick video in my room, okay?”
Hinata grinned, pulling Kageyama by the sleeve.

Kuroo and Kenma shared a look that said Yep, totally innocent. Sure.

The chaos continued.
Bokuto was loudly reenacting someone’s snowball “victory stance.”
Oikawa was fake crying over losing a Mario Kart round earlier.
Lev was trying to poke Yaku for fun.
Iwaizumi was trying to stop Oikawa from standing on Kenma’s coffee table.

Kenma was holding in his frustration… barely.

Kuroo stretched.
“I’m gonna go use the bathroom. Don’t start a fire while I’m gone.”
He disappeared down the hallway.

The SECOND the bathroom door clicked shut
Chaos multiplied.

“LEV STOP CHASING YAKU AROUND MY COUCH.”
“Bokuto, NO don’t lift the chair like that!”

Kenma’s eye twitched.

He glanced toward the hall.

He actually waited.
One minute.
Two minutes.
Maybe they’d calm down?

They did not.

With the calmest, coldest voice he had
“Get. Out.”
Everyone froze.

“Kenmaaaa, the trains—” Oikawa started.

“They’re running again. Leave.”

Bokuto blinked. “Right now?”

Kenma pointed at the door.

“Now.”

They had never grabbed their jackets so fast in their entire lives.

Within ninety seconds the apartment was dead silent, the only sound being the front door closing as the last pair left.

Kenma exhaled deeply.

Peace. Finally.

A moment later, Kuroo walked out of the bathroom drying his hands.
“Okay, what’d I miss?” he asked casually before stopping.
The living room was empty. Utterly empty.
“…Kenma?”

Kenma didn’t even look up from fixing the couch pillows.
“I kicked them out.”

Kuroo blinked. “You.. what? All of them?”

“They were loud. And annoying,” Kenma shrugged. “And they kept touching my stuff.”

Kuroo stared, then burst into a quiet laugh.
“That’s… fair.”

Kenma finally turned to look at him, soft smile forming.
“It’s quiet now.”

Kuroo took in the silence too.
“…Yeah. Kinda nice.”

Kenma sat on the floor in front of the TV, grabbing two controllers.

“Wanna help me record something for stream? My fans will freak out if you show up unannounced.”

Kuroo lit up.

“Oh ho mysterious special guest Kuroo Tetsuro? Should I sign something? Do I need makeup? Should we rehearse lines?”

Kenma threw a pillow at him.
“Just sit down.”

Kuroo dropped onto the floor beside him, knees bumping lightly.

Kenma hit “START STREAM.”
The soft Twitch chime sounded.

“Hey,” Kenma said into the mic, voice calm as always.
“So… everyone left. But Kuroo’s here, so we’re gonna play a game.”

Off camera, Kuroo whispered loudly
“You kicked them out.”

Kenma muttered, “Shut up.”

But he was smiling.
And Kuroo saw it.
And for once, the apartment was quiet enough that he really noticed how close they were sitting.

Kuroo chuckled under his breath.
Kenma nudged his shoulder, hiding a tiny laugh of his own.

The rest of the night passed with soft lighting, quiet laughter, and the comfortable kind of silence that only happened when it was just the two of them.
