He felt a rush of triumph as he relocated it, scuffling it closer and confirming that it was most definitely a ring. He closed his fingers around it, ready to pull himself out and proudly present it to the nurse.
“Oh, it’s my wedding ring.”

Rowan’s shoulder slammed against the wooden frame in surprise, making a loud, painful noise. Marisol and Sydney both flinched as he jerked, swearing under his breath in a language neither of them recognized as his shoulder pulsed with pain.
