This isn't fair to Jeddie. In fact, it's probably the cruelest thing he could do to him. Perhaps, in this moment, the overwhelming and shameful part of Sydney—one that only seems like an outside force when not active—wants to be cruel. That horrible, unfair, part of him that could never be satisfied with his constant rationalization wanted to get back at Jedidiah for all the embarrassment and desperation and the removal of his autonomy he inflicted on him what felt like all the time. That part of him, as much as he tries to keep it at bay, is why he leans into the kiss.
Or the bloodletting ritual leads to Adam kissing Sydney, and Sydney doesn't try to object.

“...Why?” He queried, furrowing his eyebrows.
Sydney chewed his bottom lip. “I’ve been–hm, well–I wouldn’t quite call it keeping a secret. I just haven’t found a good moment to bring it up.” He found himself abruptly letting the words begin to tumble from his lips quicker than he’d expected.“It’s about Elijah.” Jedidiah flinched when he spoke his real name, the one hidden underneath the man’s overly theatric facade.
Or, somethings been off about Sydney since his last run-in with The Elephant Man, and Jedidiah’s noticed. Sydney gets something off his chest that’s been bothering him.
