Work Text:
Tapan took in a deep breath of station air as she stepped off the transport. She loved the first hit of fresh recycled smell. She had come to UplandGateway One Station before the rest of her family in order to secure housing before making sure all their stuff made it in one piece. She also loved using the time to explore freely. Even now, she could smell something being fried on one of the lower platforms and it made her stomach growl. Knowing there was plenty of time before she really needed to be anywhere, she headed down the stairs following the delicious smell.
“SecUnit! Over here!” A cheerful voice called out. Tapan froze. This station had SecUnits?! She pulled up the job info packet and did a quick scan for anything about SecUnits. She didn't see anything. Maybe it was someone's personal Unit that traveled with them. Rich people were weird like that. She turned to look for the construct; if she saw its armour, she’d know what company it was from and would be able to tell who owned it. But she didn’t see anything. No tall imposing figure in any form of armour. She did see a familiar face though.
“Eden!” She cried out, watching their head whip towards her. “It’s really you!” She bounded over to the security consultant who saved her life; SecUnit forgotten.
“Hello Tapan,” Eden said in that calm, confident tone she remembered. They were standing with two other people.
“Eden huh? Isn’t that the security consultant from Sanctuary Moon?” The man standing next to Eden had a large smile on his face. Eden looked off to the side as if embarrassed.
“Hi, I’m Iris!” The woman with Eden said. “This is Ratthi. We work with….Eden” She reached out to shake hands. “Nice to meet you, how do you know them?"
“Hi," Tapan introduced herself. "Eden saved my life on RaviHyral!”
“Oh! RaviHyral!” Iris’s eyes went wide and Ratthi looked a bit confused. Eden was still staring off into the distance looking like they wanted to be anywhere but here.
“I’d love to hear that story. Please have lunch with us?” Ratthi asked. He smiled so warmly at her, Tapan couldn’t say no.
“I’ll see you later.” Eden said and walked away before anyone responded. Tapan frowned, worried that she had upset them.
“Don’t worry about them,” Iris consoled her. “They have a uh…strict diet.” Oh right, Tapan had forgotten for a minute.
“So,” Ratthi said, offering her his arm as they walked towards the cafeteria. “Tell me everything!”
