Summary
The inferno roared, devouring all that sat within it.
The Wasp King was a hard foe to beat. The deadlands were tough and unforgiving, and anything they turned out needed to be able to endure their harsh conditions. Strength, endurance, or simply an unwillingness to give up the ghost and die already.
In order to claim victory against what they brought to form, one would need to match or overcome an opponent in all those qualities. Team Snakemouth, of course, knew this already. They had braved the deadlands on their way in, and they would have to do so again on their way out. They were battered and bruised, but they were still alive, and in a fight of endurance, that was what mattered.
Sooner or later, someone would have to win. Someone would need to gain the upper hand. And when the scales tip in a direction one doesn’t want, in a fight you can’t afford to lose, one can get desperate.
And desperation, they say, makes fools of us all.
