Notes:

Whew I managed to finish this up yesterday night! I've been so busy but I couldn't not participate in this. I'll be updating every day this week for the corresponding prompts! This might be my last long Josuyasu fic so I wanted to write something for everyday

Chapter 1: Day One: First Kiss

Chapter Text

Josuke nervously checked his hair in the mirror. It looked perfect, of course. He had just spent an hour on it so it’d better be. And this was maybe the 50th time he had made sure it looked good. Cause Okuyasu was coming over and Josuke needed to be sure he looked absolutely to die for.

Normally, he wouldn’t try this hard but normal had ended yesterday when right in the middle of lunch Okuyasu blurted out in front of half their class that he liked Josuke. Like…like-liked him. He said he wanted to date and Josuke nearly died right there and squeezed his milk carton to death. He’d been dripping with it and ignoring Koichi as he tried to sponge him off when he managed to shout that he wanted to date Okuyasu too. He wished he coulda added that he had totally been planning on confessing himself like a man, but lunch ended quickly. They just spent the rest of the day with big, stupid grins on their faces while their classmates whispered and their teachers tried to ignore their giggling.

It all been a bit overwhelming so Okuyasu had just gone straight home after school, still red in the face hours later, and Josuke spent about two hours jumping around his room in joy until Tomoko begged him to stop. Josuke couldn’t help it! He’d had it bad for Okuyasu since they met (ok a little after that) but whenever he thought about telling him the truth his tongue got fuzzy and he felt all swimmy and hot. He just dropped hint after hint and draped himself across the other boy at any chance he got and it seemed to have finally sunk in.

And thank god, Josuke thought, giving the living room another look over. Tomoko was out and Okuyasu was coming over to do homework. It was what they did every Sunday but this was the first Sunday since the big reveal and Josuke wanted everything to go perfect. And it was gonna be the first time they saw each other since. He wasn’t really sure what was going to happen but he was prepared for anything. He’d brushed his teeth twice, shaved (even though he really only had about three chin hairs) and he was wearing very nice boxers. I’m probably over thinkin’ everything, Josuke rubbed at the back of his neck as he paced the room. It’s just Okuyasu. He’s my best friend. We know like…everything about each other. Just cause we’re like…dating now or somethin it doesn’t change much. Except that it actually changed everything. Josuke had been wanting to do stuff with Okuyasu. He thought about holding his hand whenever they walked together or having him lay in his lap when they watched tv. He wondered what it would be like to just be able to lean over and kiss him whenever he felt like it. And Josuke wanted to kiss Okuyasu all the time. Josuke was sick with nerves and when the doorbell rang he nearly shit himself.

“C-comin!” He yelled, way too aware at how weird and kinda squeaky his voice sounded. He tripped as he ran to the door and almost ripped it off its hinges as he flung it open. “Hello!” Josuke shouted and he just wanted to die on the spot. “C-come in!”

Okuyasu looked a little confused and Josuke didn’t blame him. I probably look like a crazy person, he thought as Okuyasu smiled shyly at him and stepped inside. I gotta calm the fuck down, I’m gonna freak him out and he probably doesn’t wanna date a spazz! But I guess he’s kinda spazzy anyway but it works for him!

“I uh,” Okuyasu looked around the living room like he had never seen it before. “Um, nice to see you?”

“Yeah yeah, way nice.” Josuke said, rocking on his heels. This was weird. Okuyasu never said stuffy shit like that to Josuke. He normally just hugged on Josuke and immediately went into the kitchen to pilfer leftovers. “Y-you want somethin’ to eat? Drink?”

“Nah man, I’m good.” That was even weirder. Okuyasu glanced at Josuke and his face immediately got red. Josuke gulped loudly as the other boy quickly looked away, rubbing at his face like he could wipe that blush away. Holy shit, he’s so cute. I can't believe it, he’s like perfect. His hair a little messed up today too, its kinda hot. “So, you wanna just start?”

“Start what!?” Josuke squawked. The touchin? The kissin? The somethin more!? Should I have shaved my balls!?

“The homework.” Okuyasu said, holding his school bag up by his head. “Y’said you’d help me out with my English.”

“Oh, oh yeah.” Josuke laughed weakly and quickly turned around so Okuyasu wouldn’t see how screwed up his face was. He was feeling kinda super disappointed Okuyasu hadn't meant making out on the floor. “I’m not that good at it though.”

“Better than me.” Okuyasu joined Josuke at the kitchen table. They sat down next to each other like usual. But maybe a little closer. Or farther. Josuke couldn’t really tell right now but all he knew was Okuyasu was less than a few feet from him, close enough to grab but no one was grabbin nobody. Had Josuke just imagined that confession? Sure it had been awkward and rushed and Okuyasu had had some rice on his face when he told him but it still counted! Right?

Well it it did shouldn’t we be like…makin out or holdin hands or something? Josuke wondered, resting his chin on his hand as he stared at Okuyasu as he pulled out his books and papers and novelty fish shaped eraser. He said, ‘I like you Josuke!’ What, was he just affirming our friendship?

“Hey, hey Josuke!” Josuke’s head slipped off his palm and he almost slammed his forehead in the table. Okuyasu was peering at him wide-eyed. “Hey, are you ok? You were zoning out there, did ya even hear me?”

“Huh? Oh, oh sorry.” Josuke hadn't just gotten lost in his thoughts. He’d been busy staring at Okuyasu and, again, thinking about how cute his ears and nose were. “What’d you say?”

“Don’t ya think you should take your book out?” Okuyasu pointed at Josuke’s unopened bag and raised his eyebrow. “Unless you already got everythin done and’ll just give me the answers.”

“Ha! You wish!” Josuke lightly punched his shoulder and they laughed and for a second it was normal and then they looked at each other. They were both smiling and pink faced and Josuke felt a crazy shiver run through him. It was like there were invisible hands trying to push him towards the other boy but Josuke wasn’t sure if that was ok. “Um, yeah.” They both looked away at the same time and Josuke’s hands were so sweaty his textbook almost slipped through his hands. “Yeah, we should get started. We got that test Wednesday.”

“Yeah, yeah the test.” Okuyasu muttered, looking down at his messy notes. “Forgot all about that.”

It got quiet and that was uncomfortable. Josuke and Okuyasu couldn’t really be quiet around each other. If they weren’t talking they were laughing or yelling or singing or just making noise. The only sound was the radio Josuke had left on. it was playing a song he liked. Something fast and fun and bright and Josuke had never felt so awkward. This isn’t how it should be with him, Josuke thought, reaching over to correct a spelling mistake of his. Josuke really wasn’t that great at English, but he liked having Okuyasu come to him for something. He liked being there for him so much. He never had a lotta friends growing up, for whatever reason. Maybe his temper or maybe cause he was illegitimate. So he wanted to do right by Okuyasu.

“I like this song.” Okuyasu muttered. Josuke snorted a little. Of course he does, we like all the same stuff. We’re perfect for each other. Mom says it all the time. That we were just made to be together. Ugh, doesn’t she know how embarrassing that is?! “Whose it by?”

“Don’t know, don’t care.” Josuke said lightly, feeling his nerves start pressing up against his skin. He was thinkin about doing something. Something big. Okuyasu had taken the first step yesterday by telling Josuke the truth, but it looked like he was too scared to bring it up. Josuke would make the next move and meet Okuyasu in the middle if he wanted something to happen and he really, really did.

Josuke set his pencil down and stood up. Carefully, like he was going to pet a spooked animal, he grabbed Okuyasu’s hand and pulled him to his feet. Okuyasu’s hand was just a bit smaller then Josuke’s and little rough and dry. “Wh-what’s wrong Josuke?” Okuyasu asked, already starting to sweat. “You kickin me out?”

“Nah man, no way.” Josuke’s lungs were in his stomach and his heart had somehow relocated to his left ass cheek but there was no stopping this now. “I wanna dance with you.”

“D-dance!?” Okuyasu went blood red and that made Josuke get even more flustered. Cause damn the boy was cute. “I-I don’t know how…no way man I don’t…”

Josuke took Okuyasu’s other hand and lead him away from the table. They were kinda clammy now, like Josuke’s and together they made a sweaty mess. “C’mon man, I bet you’ll do great.” Josuke swung their arms a little and began swaying side to side. “But I don’t care if you step on my feet or anything like that. I just wanna do this. With you.” Josuke added with extra emphasis. Okuyasu gulped and tried to follow Josuke’s motions. His grip was tight and he had some calluses on his hands. Probably from workin on his bike, Josuke thought, wanting to put his palms on his face and kiss them over and over. “Put your hand on my hip,” Josuke said, trying to imitate what he had seen people do on tv. “And I’ll uh put mine on your shoulder.”

“Ok,” They were closer now. Josuke felt like he could feel the other boy’s body heat even though they weren’t touching much. Yet. Josuke spun them around as the song got a little faster and Okuyasu giggled. That was a good sign. Josuke felt like Okuyasu’s hand was gonna leave a mark on his hip. Not like he was squeezing too tight or nothing like that. Josuke had just wanted Okuyasu to touch him for a really long time now. He wanted to feel his hands on him forever.

Josuke didn’t know any dance moves. He had considered himself too cool for it and besides it wasn’t like there were any clubs in Morioh. But he liked to believe he knew how to move his assets and from the way Okuyasu was looking at him he guessed he agreed. They danced wildly (and badly) out of the kitchen and into the living room, super clumsy and uneven but they never let go of each other.  They both broke out laughing as Josuke tripped over Okuyasu’s feet and almost fell into the table and they twirled around until they were dizzy. Josuke felt just a few, evil errant hairs fall onto his forehead, but he didn’t mind. How could he be worried about his hair when he had Okuyasu smiling and laughing and blushing?

The song ended but luckily it didn’t go to commercial. A slow song came on. Something jazzy and low. Not the stuff Josuke usually listened to and he got freaked out all over again. Okuyasu also stopped, but they didn’t let go of each other. Josuke didn’t want this to end so fast. He was breathless and full of adrenaline like he’d just been in a fight.  And it looked Okuyasu felt the same.

“Here just,” Josuke took a deep breath and put Okuyasu’s other hand on his left hip. He put his arms around Okuyasu’s neck. He really wanted to feel up his shoulders and back but his hands refused to obey his lusty commands. Okuyasu’s grip was actually a little painful but Josuke didn’t mind, especially when those hands inched up around his middle. Okuyasu slowly spread his fingers until they spanned across Josuke’s trim waist.  He was looking at him up and down like he just didn’t know what part to stare at. Josuke didn’t blame him. After all, all of Josuke was gorgeous, if he did say so himself. Well he’s pretty hot too, Josuke thought, pulling the other boy closer. I’m gonna bury my face in his pecs. Josuke giggled to himself as they started to sway back and forth, nice and slow. They kept trying to look at each other but every time they made eye contact they’d get flustered and look down or to the side. Josuke wanted to stare at Okuyasu but when he saw that blush covering his face and the way he was nervously biting his lip Josuke just lost it. I wanna be closer. Josuke thought, holding his breath because he was freaking out and he didn’t wanna start panting like crazy. I just, want to be near him. I wanna hold him. Josuke gulped and stepped forward, resting his chin on Okuyasu’s shoulder. He hugged him close and Okuyasu squeezed him back after just a second pause. He’s really warm, Josuke thought, his eyes half open. They were barely dancing now. More like they were just clinging to each other and Josuke was more than happy with that.

“Josuke!” Okuyasu said suddenly, scaring the shit out of him. Josuke stepped back a little, but he didn’t let go. Neither did Okuyasu. Now that they were touching like this, Josuke wasn’t sure if he could ever stop. “D-did you mean it?!”

“Mean what?”

“When you said you liked me, yesterday.” Okuyasu quickly looked down at the ground. “I’m-I’m sorry I just blurted it out like that. I’ve been wantin to yell ya but I always chickened out. But yesterday!” Okuyasu shut his eyes tight. “You just looked so cute I couldn’t stand it! I shoulda waited till after class but you were focusing so hard on your lunch and your nose was all scrunched and you were pouting and I just lost my mind. And I’ve liked you for so long man, for like ever.” Okuyasu slowly opened his eyes and saw Josuke’s big goofy grin. “Wait, you actually like me?”

Josuke laughed softly, wanting to kiss him even more now cause he looked so surprised and adorable. “Yes dude! I said it yesterday!”

“I-I thought maybe you were just sayin that so you didn’t have to turn me down in front of the whole class.” Okuyasu said quickly, his grip getting even firmer. Josuke liked that just fine though. “That’s why I ran right home yesterday. I didn’t…” Okuyasu took a deep breath. “I didn’t wanna get my heart broken any sooner than I had to, y’know?”

“Okuyasu…” Josuke said, placing his hand on the other boy’s neck. He was so tense and Josuke tried to rub out some of that stiffness.

“I was kinda expecting to come over here and to be let down easy, you know?” Okuyasu smiled nervously. “But you mean it? You like me back?”

“Yeah dude.” Josuke traced Okuyasu’s jaw line with his thumb. “I’m so into you, you’re like…sunshine or something.” Josuke’s entire body was hot now and Okuyasu’s eyes were as big as the moon. Josuke eyed Okuyasu’s lips. They were in super need of some real sweet attention. Okuyasu noticed his staring and tilted his head a little, his bottom lip trembling. They had been friends for what felt like forever now. Best friends. And even though Josuke had been fantasizing about this like every night, he felt almost paralyzed. Kinda intimidated. This was huge. This was gonna change everything and Josuke wasn’t sure whether he should kiss his top lip or bottom lip or both? Josuke stepped forward until their chests and waists were touching and swallowed past a massive lump in his throat right before he leaned in.

Josuke kissed Okuyasu as gently as he could. Josuke didn’t want any roughness right now. Nothing that Okuyasu could ever misinterpret as aggression. He just pressed his closed lips to his, wanting to feel if they were soft or chapped or dry or warm. Josuke had been wondering about all of this for months now. How the other boy would taste, how he would tilt his head, if he’d make any soft noises. But he couldn’t really pay attention to any of that because his brain was on fire.

Josuke pulled away, just for a second though, cause Okuyasu leaned in and kissed Josuke back. He was holding him so close and Josuke was suddenly so overwhelmed by everything. Okuyasu’s body was hot through his clothes and the way he was grabbing Josuke’s hips and waist was driving Josuke absolutely nuts. He felt like climbing up on his roof and screaming, he suddenly felt so electric. The other boy angled his head and kissed Josuke differently. His lips were parted and wet and Josuke started giggling so hard he broke the kiss.

“Oh my god,” Josuke muttered, pressing his forehead against Okuyasu’s. “Sorry, k-keep doin that, please.”

“Really?” Okuyasu said, the tips of their noses touching now. Josuke would be lying if he said he didn’t take that opportunity to nuzzle him like a total sap. God, he hoped no one found out how mushy he was. “It’s ok? This is ok?”

“Yeah man, its perfect.” Josuke cupped Okuyasu’s face with both of his hands and he shyly smiled back. “You’re so perfect.”

Okuyasu looked like Josuke had just told him the meaning of life. He laid his hand on top of Josuke’s and leaned into his palm. Josuke’s entire chest ached, cause sometimes he was too busy thinking about how much he liked Okuyasu he forgot what he meant to the other boy.

“You’re so cool, Josuke.” Okuyasu said right before Josuke kissed his bottom lip, then his chin and his nose and his eyelids and he just couldn’t help himself. He had this boy all to himself right now and his neck and jaw desperately needed to be kissed.

“We should take this to the couch.” Josuke said, very suavely in his opinion. He had his hands all over Okuyasu’s chest right now and he wanted to keep on exploring. He had gotten over his nerves hilariously quickly.

“J-Josuke,” Okuyasu said as Josuke kissed his cheek. His skin was soft under his lips. “We really gotta study. I don’t want to fail!”

“I won't let you fail dude but I can't keep my hands off ya.” Josuke hugged him tighter. “You’re my boyfriend now; I need you close more than ever.”

“B-boyfriend…” Okuyasu looked like he had gotten a brain freeze from hearing that. Josuke went forth and started kissing on the other boys jaw, back by his ear. “O-ok but still! If I fail I’ll have to go in for tutoring or some shit and then you won’t even get to see me after school!” Okuyasu held Josuke back by his shoulders and held up a finger. “Just one hour of studying, ok? Cause like, I’m dyin to make out with you.” Okuyasu smiled slyly, his fingers back on Josuke’s hips. “But I wanna do it in your room. I don’t want your mom walkin in or anything.”

The very mention of Tomoko cooled Josuke’s blood so fast he was surprised he didn’t get hypothermia. Reluctantly and sadly, he agreed and they went back to the kitchen table where their notes and books laid abandoned. As soon as they sat down, Josuke very smoothly took Okuyasu’s hand. It wasn’t clammy or sweaty anymore. It was just warm, a little shaky, but that calmed down once Josuke started stroking his knuckles with his thumb.

“I should ask your mom for her blessing, y’know,” Okuyasu said. “That’s only proper.”

That was maybe the most adorable thing Josuke had ever heard and he scooted his chair right up next to the other boys and kissed his nose. “You’re the greatest, Okuyasu.”
