Summary
The purple dye used to make Jiang sect robes has always been made in a very specific way by a very specific person, since long before Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were born. After Lotus Pier was burned down by the Wens, they believed that this piece of their clan identity was as lost as all the others. Fortunately, they were wrong.
Many years later, after Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng had rebuilt their relationship enough for Wei Wuxian to be allowed back in Lotus Pier, Lan Wangji is introduced to the man responsible for the color the world equates with the name Jiang.
