Summary
Dean Winchester had never pegged himself as the kind of guy who could spend more than a couple weeks in this kind of bustling seaside city, let alone set up shop and stay, but here he is, temporarily retired from hunting and the proud manager of the diner Rosie’s just a few blocks north of Seabright Beach. Sure, he’s a little bored sometimes, but Santa Cruz is apparently just a place that carries few mysteries of their particular persuasion.
Even Rosie herself seems to be more a fiction than an actual woman. Dean asked about the name once, and the owner had looked at him quizzically and said, “As far as I can tell, she was Ma’s imaginary friend. Why?”
“Just wondering.” So he had left it at that, unwilling to dig up monsters where there are none.
Should have known better.

Summary
Cas was taken by the Empty on a Thursday.
Chuck is defeated and freedom awaits Dean, but at what cost? Can Dean survive without Cas, and more importantly, does Dean want to navigate life without his best friend?
There is also the small issue of the fact that ‘He didn’t get to say it back.’
Or: The one where Dean wanders the bunker alone and tries to forget he is still alive.

Summary
Dean saves Castiel from the Empty, but that fixes nothing.
You do not walk into the void with a human soul and emerge unaltered.
You do not walk into the void with a human soul, period.
But Dean did. Worse, Dean did it for Castiel. To rescue him. Out of friendship, fraternity. Out of love. Just—not the right kind.
Perhaps it's wrong of him, perhaps it's unfair and petty and all-too-human, but.
Castiel resents him for it.
