Aaliyah, a young FBI Academy trainee, is tasked with visiting one of the nation's most loathsome monsters: the twistedly-charismatic, cannibalistic serial killer Trent Reznor — in order to ascertain his input concerning an individual committing a series of murders that shockingly resemble Trent's of the day.
As she communicates with him, with an increasing frequency, she slowly comes to realize that it is not just the killer that she is searching for in their continued conversations, but something else — something that threatens to send everything of hers into a downward spiral, from her reputation, to her career, to her morality, to her mortal soul.
And perhaps, as she is soon to realize... she is ultimately searching for herself.
