Genesis planned to defect; to take some SOLDIERs to Hollander's secret lair for further experimentation... err, testing; to seduce Angeal to join him; to put Shinra to the torch; to find the cure for Degradation; to fight Sephiroth; and to become the Hero blessed by the Goddess. He did not plan to get hurt at the last moment and find himself stranded in the jungle with another omega keeping him alive and if at all possible sane. He did not expect to lose Angeal to their bondmate's sword. He did not expect to learn that Sephiroth has been in love with him since forever (he would have bitten the fool himself long ago if he did).
Maybe, becoming the Hero is still on the table, though?
Meanwhile, all Cloud had done is he heeded morals and kept a fellow omega safe when in heat. He doesn't get what's all the noise about.
