Damen hesitates. “He announced an engagement. That doesn’t necessarily mean—”“No.” Auguste looks him dead in the eye. “You don’t understand. Laurent doesn’t bluff.”
Damen finds himself increasingly aware of the silence that follows. Then Auguste sets down his drink, walks over, and says, “I need you to stop this from happening.”

“You’re late,” Laurent frostily pronounced, when the latecomer had come to a standstill at the sight of him. “Fifteen minutes,” he continued, glancing at his watch, and the man in the doorway shook himself and smiled helplessly.
“Sorry,” said a smoky, deep voice, curling and settling into his stomach. The man’s gaze felt warm, as it drifted down and back up. There was a hint of obstinance in his look, softened with a startlingly flirtatious gleam.
“...sir,” the honeyed voice punctuated, after an uncomfortable moment.
A millenium ago, Vere and Akielos were enemies. Two crown princes, destined to be foes, had instead forged an unprecedented and monumental alliance. Their story, recounted in the poem The Lauread, incited the popular uprisings that birthed the Artesian Union.

Ancel wonders if he looks as insane as he feels. He’s barefoot and barely dressed, the dressing gown gaping open over his bare chest. His face is unpainted and his hair is wild. AKA a fic where I explore my faves as Supernatural creatures and play around a little. I have a general plot and a direction I can see this going, will try and update monthly! I'm tryna go for the kinda light comedy vibe but with sort of contrasted with dark parts, angst etc, and I've drawn inspiration from many things to kind of attempt to create my own lore on some supernatural beings that will be showing up.
Had a bit of a meltdown and deleted the original fic but I've re uploaded and will be posting once again, unfortunately cannot gaurantee any schedule
(more updates, I abandoned this fic due to many reasons which are summarized in the notes on chapter 7, but I'm back at it again after about 4 years so yay. also Laurent is a trans man now lol)
