    The mention of Sunshine’s absence only served to work Solar up further. Mama was his world. She kept him safe. If Mama was gone then who would protect him from Moonlight?

    “Mama! Wan’ Mama-a-a!”

    KC couldn’t stand to watch little Solar cry alone any more. He reached out and pulled Solar from the chair, holding the boy cradled in his arms like a baby. Solar looked up at KC, big eyes full of tears and so, so vulnerable. KC felt something in his chest catch. This baby needed him in a way nobody had ever needed him before.

    Sunshine and Solar have escaped Moonlight's grasp, but not unscathed. Solar's code is damaged. Sunshine's body is broken. Alone in a new dimension, the pair must rely on the kindness of the most unlikely animatronics to get by.

    He jolted awake with a blare of static from his auditory processors, knees failing him as he fell to the ground. His casing shook as he slowly processed the fact that he wasn’t dead. He wasn’t dead.
    Why wasn’t he dead?
    His body was new, and entirely his own. There was no damage, no cracks, no internal breaks. His servers spun with the knowledge, the body was foreign and uncomfortable. He felt his endo tighten uncomfortably, new and unknown.
    He felt sick.
    “Oh goodie you’re quite awake! How absolutely wonderful!” A voice crooned above him, and he just barely became aware of the broken foot a few inches from his shaking form. He whined in automatic response, the shrillness of the exclamation harsh on his processors, and curled into himself. “Oh dear,” The broken animatronic muttered, “That’s not good at all.”
