It made Sasuke feel as though being vulnerable in front of Naruto was all right. They were that way with each other, neither one more than the other. “Why would I stand you up?” he murmured, pleased with the way Naruto’s breath hitched.
“Because—because it’s Christmas and I thought you might not want to celebrate with me,” Naruto admitted, glancing away.
Sasuke pressed his nose into the crook of Naruto’s neck, inhaling the scent of him. “I wouldn’t want to spend it with anyone but you,” Sasuke retorted, feeling safe with his face hidden so that Naruto couldn’t see the heaviness of that truth.
