In a snap judgement, Midoriya Inko uses her quirk to save a life during surgery. She's promptly fired. The reason? Unlicensed, illegal quirk usage, cause enough to revoke her medical license and with it, her salary. At the age of ten, her son Izuku's life is flipped on its head. They move to cheap apartment in a more run-down area, sell their things, and work long hours to make ends meet.
The world is rotten, and he begins to see the cracks. Unfair rules, chains written in ink that shackle everyone unfairly. Villains running rampant, unabated by corrupt heroes. His heroic dreams hold firm - he and his mom both promised they would always do the right thing.
When Izuku is fifteen, he leaves work one night to see a woman being suffocated by a villain made of sludge, surrounded by explosions. Heroes watch uselessly and the crowd stands by, so he rushes in to save her. This woman, Curious, turns out to be a head lieutenant of the Meta Liberation Army, and in Izuku's heart she sees a roaring flame.
What follows is a chain of events in which Izuku finds a new purpose beyond being a hero... Liberation.

Until Hawks reaches out to him, insisting that one of their candidates could use Jeanist's very specific type of guidance. The Paranormal Liberation Front's co-commander of the Violet Regiment, Geten, who makes Bakugo look polite and makes Shigaraki appear downright saccharine. Post-PLF dismantling, Trumpet's quirk, so dependent on collective faith, is defanged once the MLA is dissolved and its structures gutted. The HPSC decides to test-run him in “rehabilitation.” A trial balloon: can ideological leaders be domesticated the way grunts and lieutenants are? He’s placed with Masaki Mizushima, better known as pro hero Manual. On the surface, it makes sense: Masaki is low-drama, dependable, Hosu’s model citizen. In practice, it’s an experiment in how long it takes Koku to get under his skin.
Masaki's marriage has been dead for years. Years of apologies, silence, and trying to make up for a mistake that happened when they were old enough to know better but too dumb to think twice. He doesn’t cheat, he doesn’t even look. But Koku is a smooth-talking ex-villain with whiskey on his breath, chocolate on his tongue, and the kind of patience that feels more dangerous than cruelty. Three weeks of casual touches and low-voiced praise are enough to unravel fifteen years of celibacy.
Koku doesn’t rush him. He teases, coaxes, stretches him open with slow care until Masaki is sobbing into the pillow, and afterward there's warm water, steady hands, and the knowledge that this will happen again.

The level-headed silver-tongued Meta Liberation Army politician Koku Hanabata AKA 'Trumpet' ends up in a mental hospital in my imaginings. In this series of short stories about his traumatic experiences, I give details about the sources of his troubles. Consider this an honest critique of the Meta Liberation Army which is fundamentally absurd in the context of the My Hero Academia universe. *Holds up 'L' salute on forehead* It amused me to write these because Trumpet is always that 'normal boring guy' in fandom who only exists as a plot point to highlight how wacky-mentally ill-dysfunctional the more interesting characters can be in comparison. This would take a major toll on his mental health, and he wouldn't choose to willingly put up with it if he existed irl.

Dabi and Geten: Thrown together as co-leaders of Team Violet. They hate each other, but as time goes by, they are drawn to each other. Both have problems they don't exactly foresee 100% favorable outcomes for, so after a while, they find they can at least provide comfort and aid for each other. They both need something else...maybe another sense of purpose, or maybe it could be as simple as something good going on in their lives to distract them from the horrible thoughts running circles in their minds. One guy is plotting to murder family members, and the other guy had everything he has ever known go to shit.
Despite canon suggesting it might be, I'm not writing this as an incest ship, and I go into detail by Chapter 2 explaining this because there is some awkwardness around the two main characters finding out they are related in some way. Some tags will be added as I go along, and some will be already there before I get to (x) character/situation. I anticipate this will go around six chapters. I've already finished four chapters worth of rough drafts, but I'm not sure how long the rest will go.
