It’s one of the worst aspects of his character, but fire is a greedy and cruel entity.
He did not want to share the sweetness and kindness of his Natsu, because he was his own. Likewise, when they start leaving dead rodents on his pillow and fluffy blankets on his futon, he happily begins to reciprocate.

It was an accident when Rei and her grandchild, Natsuo's child, encountered Enji Todoroki at the beach.
Bucking against her children's opinion, Rei took care of an injured Enji for a few months and attended therapy with him, before she ultimately moved into the second Todoroki home with Shouto, Fuyumi, and Natsuo. Natsuo ended up marrying and having a child with his wife, granting Rei a burst of grandmothery joy.
The beach encounter threatens to rip open wounds, since Enji is never meant to see his grandchild. But even as Rei finds herself facing difficult conversations, she glimpses an uncharted path to healing. She decides to re-explore what that could mean with Enji.

Natsuo has many, he doesn't talk about the voices whispering in his ear, the eyes on the walls or the hands that emerge from the abyss to hurt him. His mother made him keep silent for his own good.
Todoroki Enji will have to face the consequences of taking his family to extremes, with children's blood on the walls and ashes in the crib. When he has only two children left, and many regrets.
Natsuo was pressed by his father until he breakdown like his mother. Himura Rei poured boiling water on Shouto's face. Little Todoroki Natsuo cut his arm to bleed out on the kitchen floor.
(Natsuo cannot return to that house as long as Touya is no longer there. Tenko never asks for the truth; content to accept whatever Natsuo is willing to share).
(Touya can be Dabi. Natsuo can be Yuki).

As Rei ends her call with a reputable cab company, she gazes out the window to watch their comings and goings one last time. From the comfort of her windowsill, she likes to imagine the colorful lives they lead in contrast to the hospital's endless reserve of rooms drenched in muted earth tones. The exception is, as always, a vibrant arrangement of Japanese gentians that sits in her windowsill, sticking out like a sore thumb.
But this Tuesday is different. Her doctors say that this day marks a milestone in her recovery. For what it’s worth, Rei is inclined to agree. She’s packing her bags to leave the hospital. Unlikely though it once seemed, Mrs. Todoroki is going home.
