Jake nunca teve muito na vida e o pouco que tinha havia sido arrancado de si em uma madrugada qualquer, ele sentia o frio debaixo dos pés, azulejo pálido fundindo com seus dedos nus, ele não se preocupou em calçar os sapatos, a sua mente vagava as brigas, os risos, os choros, a formatura improvisada no ensino médio, pois Jake nunca chegou a subir no pódio para pegar o diploma, mas lá estava Declan usando um terno totalmente desalinhado no peito, um microfone, canudo aveludado com pequenas pontas soltas, Jake vagou para as mãos do mais velho, fitas e band air escondiam os ferimentos com a cola quente. Uma imensa foto de Jake está pregada na parede atrás junto do arco de flores. “Seja bem-vindo a sua formatura particular, já que você é bom demais para meros mortais”, diz Declan forçando uma voz de locutor.
