A superhero au
A cosmic event took place years ago that led forms of magic taking forms, which, harnessed by anybody, would give them powers beyond human ability. Many fell into the wrong hands and became what the very shows and comics the people grew up on into adversaries upon the street. Their fiction became fact. To counteract, there would be good samaritans who chose to step forward and declare themselves as superheroes. However, with these magical artifacts, they tend to bring out a persona of sorts upon the user.
