Ricky was mostly fine. He had a rip in the knee of his jeans and he smelled a little bit like if peppermint could go moldy, but his folks knew Santacon was going on. He could blame a lot on Santacon, and definitely would if given the opportunity. He raised a fist and knocked, loud enough that it would wake up his father if he was dozing on the couch.
Too loud, apparently, because when the door opened Ricky didn’t even get a glimpse of his father before a small shape barreled into his legs, almost knocking him over. “Hey, kiddo,” Ricky said, resting a tired hand flat on his daughter’s head. His father looked at him from the doorway, eyes swollen with sleep.
“She wouldn’t go to sleep in the bed,” he said, and didn’t sound even a little sorry. “She wanted to be ready for when you came back.”

New Year’s Eve is always a weird time, for all of them. It brings up a lot of memories- good and bad ones.
Kugrash, of course, always. Sofia swears that sometimes, especially this time of year, she can taste poppyseeds and onions on the wind, like he’s looking down at her from his place of one-ness with the universe. Kugrash is everywhere in the city around them- that was kind of the point of the Everything everything bagel, Sofia supposes- but that understanding doesn’t always help to lessen the grief.
As much as Kugrash’s absence is obvious in moments like this, late December also always brings with it Langston’s birthday, and both of the times their little family managed to save their city from forces of destruction and nihilism. Wally always visits in the days after Christmas, and late December is when Sofie finally got Dale back.
It is, as Cody would say, two sides of the same sword. As sharp as it is sweet.

Something wasn’t right. Apart from the whole aged up by a ghost thing. His eyes were hot, and his vision was starting to blur. The fluorescent lights in the hospital room were taunting him and making his hands look an odd shade of green. Was he sick? Was that why he felt so weird? Why did his brain feel so...scratchy? Like an old Christmas sweater.
Without knowing why, he sucked in a shaky breath and held it. To keep from crying, but why the hell would he do something like that?

As it turns out, there are side effects to getting sucked into a magical VHS tape, beyond Wendell's driving skills and Liv's new affinity for suits. Also, magic is real and significantly more common than either of them realized.

Summary
No one has seen or heard from Pete in a week except for Kingston, about four days after his heat was definitely supposed to be over, and for four days Ricky has been getting more and more distraught.
“Esther, will you please go check on him it’s inappropriate for an alpha to show up at the door of an omega unannounced, especially so close to a heat but I’m worried.”
Esther’s eyes go soft and she strokes his cheek in a soothing fashion, the ache of his fear passing like a shadow through their bond.
