Ilsa digs her gun out of the bottom drawer of a dresser in a room she hardly ever enters one night, disassembles it and lays it all out on her kitchen countertop. That first night, it takes her a minute and twenty-seven seconds to reassemble it. Over the next two days, she gets the time down to forty seconds. More time passes—twenty-three seconds. More time—fifteen.
She starts to wonder if she can make other things out of the parts; tools, decorations, practical, simple objects that have nothing to do with the original item. But as Ilsa gets more and more familiar with the individual parts, she realizes that there isn’t really anything she can rebuild them into other than a gun.
Maybe it serves as some analogy for her life. Discarded, taken apart. She reassembles the gun in eleven seconds and realizes a gun is all it was ever meant to be.

Summary
He was the living manifestation of destiny, the definition of an impossible mission. He got the job done and she had utter faith in him to save the world whenever it was required.
Ilsa, however, had no faith in herself. The more she thought of the choice, the more impossible it felt and she became more and more vexed at the beaten down expression looking back at her. She could be trusted to take a life on command, but not perform this task which some might consider basic? Those who would stand as far back as the sidelines, that was.
How do I do it?
The question would not leave her alone and just became more and more intensified like a pressure cooker. She felt like her brain was inflating from the inside and not because of the pressurisation of the commercial airliner on which she was travelling. She felt the internal forces building and building, ready to break through and cause the most explosive of decompressions.

Summary
Benji Dunn has pined after Ethan Hunt since the moment he met him. When Ethan tells him he'd like to be friends with benefits, absolutely no strings attached, Benji jumps at the opportunity. Benji didn't realize how difficult it would be to separate his real feelings from the little pieces of himself that Ethan was willing to give to him. Ethan doesn't realize how difficult it would be to keep it no strings attached.
Each chapter alternates perspectives between the two and will contain a line from the folklore album as a sort of inspiration/vibe for the chapter. I should be updating pretty regularly, but I'd love feedback as I don't have any beta readers for this. There are a few time jumps, but each chapter will be labeled with a month to help keep track of things.
