Riko is the youngest child of the Hoshidan royal family, a long royal family of riders who are at war with the neighboring kingdom of Nohr, also home to riders, her kingdom is still without an heir due to the nature of their inheritance, where the next ruler is to try and hatch either the king of the skies or the queen of the land, both monsters being said to be long extinct so if neither are hatched the inheritance goes to the first born when the youngest hits 20, but when Riko finds an abandoned egg of a Rathalos and hatches it, hailing her the next queen of Hoshido, a mysterious threat attacks her home and Nohr, now Riko was tasked to end the war and stop the threat trying to destroy her world

It’s been thousands of years since the extinction of both Humanity and the Wyverians, and thousands more since something unnatural caused a rapid and extreme change in Monsterkind. Now the beasts have been split into two distinct paths, Sapient Monsters, who have been granted the gift of consciousness at the cost of a bipedal body similar to the ancients that preceded them, and the Feral Monsters, who have retained their primal form and have rejected the gift of sentience, instead skyrocketing in numbers. The world is full of unanswered questions, knowledge of the past has been lost to time, and the legacies of old are but shadows of what once was. From the grave of the former organization, many of the Sapient Monsters have taken up the ancient banner of the Guild, reviving the group’s once vanquished spirit. One of many dedicated to filling the gaps of the Guild’s knowledge is a researcher named Quill, who has journeyed far from his homeland and has now set his sights on the New World, a place shrouded in mystery and where no vessel has ever returned from. Rosu Stevenson (a seregios) is one to sell the parts of monsters he’s killed on the black market. He may sometimes feel the guilt of what he’s done to the poor monsters, but he forces himself to not care. He’s in for the money. However, his crimes are one day discovered when he was caught murdering a rathian he had later sold the parts of. When an organization confronts him before calling the cops, he’s met with a childhood friend in that organization. Vizeki Ryzechs. He’s highly untrustworthy of Rosu and is unable to forgive him for the crimes he’s committed, and his guilt grows ever stronger. That money is really nice though, so what would he do if he weren’t selling parts illegally? Yet when they end up having to work together to stop an army of artificial monsters known as the Guardians from going more insane than their programming compels them to, as well as the gogmazios manning them allowing that to happen, Rosu starts to think that he may have enough money.
