Baizhu war sich schon immer darüber bewusst gewesen, dass Celestia Spaß daran fand, ihm das Leben schwer zu machen. Chronisch krank und ohne Familie verbringt der schwächliche Heiler seine Tage in einem kleinen Dorf in Liyue.
Als dann eine scheinbar unheilbare Krankheit ausbricht findet Baizhu sich als Opfergabe für die Meeresgottheit Osial wieder, welcher fanatisch von den Dörflern verehrt wird.
In seiner Verzweiflung betet er zu einer anderen Gottheit, Morax. Und wird erhört.Morax findet schnell Gefallen an dem menschlichen Heiler und es dauert nicht lang, bis Baizhu sich gefangen zwischen der ehrlichen Zuneigung und dunklen Obsession des Archon wiederfindet.

Taking care of Qiqi, running the Bubu Pharmacy, preventing Changsheng from striking at "insolent customers" and dealing with his own... struggles.

There remains but one recourse: a message received in response to a missive inked one dark and terrible night when Baizhu was nearly, but not quite, this close to death, when Zhongli’s pride crumbled in the face of the fear of loss.
Zhongli has lost so much, and he doesn’t know if he can bear more. Doesn’t know if he can bear this loss in particular. The words of that message are engraved in his memory, and he knows them even now, as he wishes once more that he could weep.
With Baizhu on death's door, Zhongli walks from Liyue Harbor to the Court of Fontaine to seek an impossible favor from the Hydro Dragon Sovereign.

Baizhu, watching the commotion of Lantern Rite from the space behind Bubu Pharmacy, helps Zhongli get rid of the fact he may as well have two left feet, despite his much lengthier life experience..
Reminiscence of the earlier days. Far easier times.
Reminders of the love they share as they light a lantern at the end of their dance, laughing and holding eachother close.

Inspired by Bill and Frank from The Last of Us’ suicides, however unlike Bill, Zhongli is immortal and cannot take after his lover as he dies.
He dies content. Content that he lived a happy life with a lover to give him purpose outside of healing everyone. Qiqi taken care of. Changsheng will be at peace on the Mt. she was originally found on all those years ago.
So why does Zhongli, in his selfishness, perhaps, wish that Baizhu would change his mind?

There was nothing for her to do anymore other than watch over Baizhu as he slept. She had already penned a letter that she was waiting for Gui to come and collect. Well she was waiting for him to enter the room so that she could inform him of the letter he needed to deliver to the Adventurer’s Guild. She hadn’t been left with many options for people she could call on to help her teach Baizhu this lesson.
This lesson wasn’t a hard one. It wasn’t something where she would need to break his trust or push him to do something he didn’t want to do.
