Summary
For twenty years following the breaking of the Curse, Kyo did his best to forget it. Even when it felt like everyone around him was opening the door and sharing the past with their children, Kyo stood fierce and firm in his resistance...until the moment he couldn't. Telling his son Hajime was terrifying, but in his son's acceptance, understanding, and unwavering love, Kyo felt a lightness and freedom he never could have imagined.
Tohru, and everyone else, had been right. He didn't need to embrace his Curse, but he didn't need to run from it. That part of his life was over, but it had shaped and made him, as much a part of him now as it had ever been. And it was right for his children to know that.
Four years later, Kyo is more confident than ever in his choice to tell his children. Both of his sons know; both of his sons accept. Only one person has yet to learn the truth: his daughter, Sachiko.
It will go well. It went well before. He has nothing to worry about. None of them do. He can trust her with this...
That's the thought, anyway, but none of them are ready for the consequences.
Begins January, almost twenty-four years after Tohru and Kyo's high school graduation

Summary
“Then maybe I’ll leave!”
Hajime couldn’t believe what he was seeing. This wasn’t a version of Taiyo he recognized in the least bit. She was always someone passionate, and whenever she would yell at him it was only to get her feelings out. She would shout her emotions and frustrations not to fight with him but because she just had an overflow, and Hajime would help her through it. But this held a great hatred Hajime didn’t know was possible for his sister. And the thought of resentment and anger engulfing her the same way it did Akito, Kyo, and others who came before them terrified him.Hajime and Mutsuki have come back to Tokyo for the week of Kazuma’s death anniversary, hoping for a peaceful time with family. But, after learning about the Curse, Hajime’s younger sister is out of control, and no one knows how to help her. While visiting Kazuma’s grave, Hajime and Mutsuki run into a frigid woman neither of them recognize. Through a series of strange events, Hajime is given a long letter from Kazuma addressed to him shortly before he passed, and he realizes that the woman at the grave has a bigger connection to their family than he thought.

Summary
The curtains are closed, but, once he hears the muffled chatter from the auditorium, he lifts his head and stands on the tip of his toes to see through the small crack between the curtains. He sees countless parents and teachers interacting and finding their seats, and his chest is filled with dread. He lowers his head and closes his eyes to calm himself, but behind his eyelids he sees his father’s expression from the crowd — cold and bothered, like it was pointless to come in the first place. Like it was ‘tedious.’ And the fear encapsulating his heart prickles the walls of his chest like thorns slowly digging deeper into his flesh.
Three times Kazuma attends a graduation, and each time he learns something new.

Summary
His voice was unmistakably a boy’s voice, but Hajime thought it sounded like honey. He felt his face warm and his heart stop. His mouth opened, but nothing came out. He was speechless. Nothing could describe such beauty. And, when Mutsuki laughed, he couldn’t even bring himself to be mad. Instead, Hajime listened to the melody and thought that the peonies matched Mutsuki’s round cheeks. And he silently promised to never allow that laugh to fade.
Hajime and Mutsuki come back to their hometown to strengthen their love together.

Summary
His happiness has always been the same color as the sky when the sun touches the earth and blesses the inhabitants with a serene fondness, kissing him with the warmth of it’s final shine of light before retiring for the day. But the light is everlasting in the endearment he feels from his father’s greetings when he comes home from work and from his mother’s kind smile after receiving gratitude for the dinner she cooked for her family. Even through the treachery of winter, he is kissed by that soft sunset whether from the loving sky or from within his own home.
Then, one day, the sun wasn’t there.
It didn’t disappear for long. The light rose as soon as it vanished. But the minuscule absence left a permanent terror within Hajime’s heart.

Summary
“These tears seem to come from an overflow from within. A wave of relief washes away Kyo’s anxieties, and he doesn’t seem to know how to react. He must’ve expected today to be like other days. He must’ve expected nothing from Kazuma, and he must’ve expected to continue to walk on a withering rope seeming to never end. This child must not have expected to feel special. It must be a foreign feeling to him, one he cannot easily accept and one he is afraid of. And Kazuma is glad to see those tears stream down his cheeks once again, if only to ease the fragile body of this precious, young boy.”
Or, four of Kyo’s birthdays through Kazuma’s eyes.

Summary
It was a normal Saturday for him. The sunlight beamed down on the citizens below and through the windows of the train, and the weather carried a gentle breeze to ease the slight heat. The day was beautiful. Nothing can be wrong.
It wasn’t until he arrived did he start to feel. It wasn’t until Tohru recommended calling the dean’s office about missing his classes for the next week, and until Hajime talked with the secretary, and until he said aloud what was happening, did everything come crashing down on him.
“My grandfather died,” he told her.
Then, he felt. -

Summary
His dad narrowed his eyes. “Hajime, what are you doing up there? You know you’re supposed to go down the slide, right?”
“Well, yeah, but going down is boring.” He shrugged. “I like it up here.” He’s always liked being in high places.
“You need to come down.”
He pouted. “Why?”
“Because I don’t want you to fall and hurt yourself.”
He rolled his eyes. He wasn't a baby. Not like his brother. “I won’t. I come up here all the time with my friends.”
“Stop arguing and come down,” his dad snapped. “You’re setting a bad example.” And then he gestured to Kazuya, who was looking up at him with wide, shining eyes.
He sighed. “Ugh, fine, geez.” And then he shifted where the first ledge was. “But I'm telling you,” he muttered, “I’m not a baby and I’ve never fallen from here.” Another step. “It’s not even dangerous and-” His foot slipped on the angle and...he was grasping at air.
And then he hit the ground with a crack, face planting in the grass.
And just as he was about to try and push himself up, he felt it. The white-hot searing pain through his arm.
And he started screaming. An unexpected fall and the terrors of being a parent sometimes.
