1. He kicks a pebble off the sidewalk in frustration. It probably wasn't meant to be, but there's a thorn in his heart that wishes it was.
2. The possibility that he actually likes her scares him. He quickly disposes of that thought; there's no need to get greedy, no need to risk what he has right now to go back to his lonely self from a few years ago.
3. Back to the wall, he dredges up memories of his one and only crush. It hurts.
4. They walk out of the classroom in silence, side by side, and he hopes that she's just as ecstatic as he is to meet again.
5. Voice strained, he whispers, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm just – I'm so happy."

Runo and Dan were hanging around in Runo's family restaurant at night, they were talking about Masquerade's sudden inactivity. For a week, there hadn't been any attacks by his minions, or anything about him at all.
And that worried the two brawlers, "what was the masked freak scheming?"- they thought.
Thats when Masquerade suddenly enters the closed restaurant looking like he was ran over by a garbage truck, and as soon as he crosses the door, he almost falls to the floor before limping towards the two brawlers and speaking to them in the most exhausted voice possible.
"I've had a terrible, TERRIBLE week.... 'mind if i take a seat?".

Summary
It's been quite some time since Mechtavius Destroyer's evil machinations were halted and Dan vowed to discover more of who he truly is by exploring the world. He's seen much, but through these discoveries, he too has found out just how vast this realm truly feels. If he can't even comprehend the enormity of his home planet, how is he supposed to work alongside the Bakugan with theirs?
While he hasn't seen his friends for a bit, their generosity has at least landed him a nice trip on a state-of-the-art cruise ship. It took some convincing, but, who knows, perhaps this solo venture will provide some divine revelation and clear his mind of his woes. And then, he'll be happy.
But, is that true? As his course is charted, he finds that fate has more for him than a trip of solitude. A friend, one he hasn't seen for quite awhile, not since the Vestal incursion on New Vestroia, awaits. Perhaps, she very well may hold the answers to the myriad questions that whirl about his solitary mind.
