Summary
The villa brings some calm and Piett takes a few deep breaths in. It’s not like him to get his nerves rattled. He doesn’t like it. It’s already odd enough to be here to be, as Tiaan would put it, seen to by his friends. Having Thrawn added to the mix complicates things.
But it’s certainly not unwelcome, and that has the same odd jittery nerves swirl in his belly again.
Motti invites Piett for a nice leave spend with himself and Jerjerrod for some much needed relaxation. Oh, and, right, Thrawn will also be there if that's all right.

Summary
Firmus Piett feels that, all things considered, things are going well for him at the Imperial Naval Academy on Corellia. His roommates are nice enough, he's managing in classes and he's on the way to a posting. Everything is falling into place, ordered and neat, just the way he likes it.
Then, a guest lecturer brings chaos to all that order.
It's not such a bad thing in the end.

Summary
Piett takes a deep breath in and gets to his feet, smoothing his uniform out of habit, and steps close to Max. Rising slightly on the balls of his feet, he presses a brief kiss to Veers’ lips - a peck, really. The contact is gentle, fleeting, but it carries everything he rarely says aloud. He reaches into the pocket of his breeches and pulls out a small wooden box of his own.
He hands it to Max, and waits, feeling strangely and uncharacteristically jittery. He’s reasonably sure Veers will understand what the object inside of the box is. He’s just unsure of Veers’ reaction, an insecurity that irks him, and that he doesn’t let show on his face.
Veers holds up the small Axxilan bonding charm in his hand and turns it over with utter gentleness, as if handling something brittle and rare.
Life Day with the Herd brings some time for domestic joy

Summary
The news of their quick expansion had reached far. Piett had never expected to see Thrawn to look anything but glacially calm, yet the urgent communication with old Imperial codes that had come in for him personally had made him look shaken to the core.
At long last, his own people had made contact.
The Chiss finally reach out, and Thrawn takes the outstretched hand. It's not an olive branch.
