Summary
Steve's an omega desperately looking for someone to love and a mate who would simply love him in return. But he finds himself unlucky in love with all the wrong people. People who keep leaving him high and dry when someone better comes along.
After yet another failed attempt at sparking a romantic match with his childhood secret crush and the beta he's been throwing himself at all summer, Steve decides there must be something fundamentally wrong with him. Something left to be desired. Something lacking. A serious flaw in his very existence that makes him a bad omega and potential mate.
Then in walks Eddie 'The Freak' Munson. An older alpha that gets the omega's heart racing for some reason, making him want to bare his throat to the handsome boy.
Steve makes the impulsive decision to get into a 'friends with benefits' situation with Eddie. But it confuses the omega to no end when he keeps acting like an alpha courting his omega.

Steve rolls his eyes, blows a raspberry towards the ceiling, then elaborates.
“I mean like, in a sexy way. You won’t let me get you off, in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen your dick! That’s so unfair!”
Unfair?!
“Yeah man, you’ve seen my dick like… a gajillion times,” now that’s just demonstrably untrue - Steve continues, “And I’ve never once seen yours. That’s gotta be against some sort of law, right?”
Eddie ignores that last part, because, obviously not.

Summary
The Squawk had become their cover, their communication hub, their war room. Robin did the actual broadcasts mostly playing music and reading pre-written community updates approved by the military presence in town, but the real purpose was the coded messages. Steve had helped her set up the whole system, spending hours figuring out how to get all the sound effects she wanted, taping things to walls and attempting to MacGyver random things around the station.
That was just who Steve was, but looking around the room now, Robin wondered more and more if anyone else actually saw that.

“Oh shoot, Will,” Steve says. “Sorry we’re such a mess. Do you want a hug too? You can get in on this and we’ll make it a group hug. Rob, your legs.” He taps her calves and she understands, spreading them open so that he’s sitting on the floor, her right leg under his knees. He doesn’t wanna squish her. Will comes closer and Steve hauls him into his lap, and then puts an arm around both of them. Robin’s got their foreheads pressed together again, and Will tucks his face into Steve’s neck. He can feel Will’s hitched breaths, feel his tears, and he breaks away from Robin for a brief second to kiss Will’s hair.
“You’re alright, I got you,” Steve murmurs, kissing his hair again for good measure before pressing his forehead back against Robin’s. And even though they’re all crying, it feels good like this. He feels loving and loved.

Steve makes his first mix tape after Nancy calls him bullshit. He's sick of always being kicked around or tossed aside, and he's especially sick of the way it makes him feel. So, he turns on the radio and starts recording any song that makes him feel good. He grabs a marker, some tape, and names it his Rainy Day Mix.
After that, he can't seem to stop making mix tapes; it becomes a form of therapy for him, and, in the end, it's the best thing he ever did.

The wolf stays where he’s at and for a moment Eddie feels extremely stupid for trying to communicate with an animal but then the wolf stands up- and woah he’s way bigger up close.
Eddie watches as the wolf steps closer and giggles at the wet cold feeling of his snout sniffing at his hand. He brings it up to pet through the wolf’s unbelievably soft fur and marvels at the glisten of the golden-like color even in the moonlight. “You do too, huh?” Eddie giggles, scratching behind the wolf’s ear as he sniffs at Eddie’s face. “I think I’m gonna’ call you Ozzy.”
Ozzy huffs and Eddie laughs.
“Yeah. Ozzy suits you perfectly.”

“Why’re you here?” slurs out of Steve.
“Robin called, freaked out, said you weren’t answering. Begged me to check in on you.”
Steve hums a little confused.
“She said that if there was something bad that you wouldn’t want Nancy to see, so she asked me. Maybe not ideal but I’m here.”
Munson wipes at Steve’s face, and he’s too tired to feel embarrassed at the realization that he’s cleaning up any leftover vomit. His hand is cleaned last, with Munson fishing out a first aid kit and properly cleaning and wrapping the long slice down the middle of his palm.
Steve wishes that there wasn’t this tension between them right now. Wishes that for a few moments they could just be not awful or awkward with each other.

Steve is sick and Robin's out of town. So she calls Eddie to take care of Steve, not knowing that Steve hasn't talked to Eddie since Eddie woke up in the hospital.

“I know that you’re new here, kid.” Steve started, as if he were about to begin one of his ‘I’m more experienced than you’ speeches. “But my whole life is a cliche.”
