Summary
"Antinous wasn't sure he had ever been the lucky man to make Telemachus laugh. The natural laugh that rang through the halls like a bard's ballads, the song gifted from the gods. If Antinous had been given such an honour he didn't think their tryst would have lasted. It would have pushed him over the edge, and caused him to do something foolish."
Telemachus sneeks Antinous into his room yet again, but this time the lord refuses to partake in their usual activities. Too many emotions have shown up between them, and they have become too hard to ignore. They may not complelty admit to the truth tonight, but they aren't willing to ignore it anymore. Something between them must change, for better or worse.

Summary
Everyone had been begging the king for answers. They had suspected he had something to do with Poseidon’s anger. Everyone in the kingdom seemed to suspect him of angering the gods. That was the only thing that explained the constant storms that plundered their islands, or the sudden droughts that arrived days later.
Odysseus had remained silent through it all. He neither confirmed nor denied the rumours. Just let them spread like a disease through the kingdom, causing outrage from the civilians who were affected by the god’s wrath.
“We both changed for the worst,” the king replied. “We had different circumstances that brought that change, some more noble than others, but we both went through it. Now, we are both trying to heal. To escape the man we turned into. To find the comfort we once had. To earn a place next to our loved ones.”
Antinous scoffed. There were no similarities between the two. Yet when the king spoke in that solemn tone, filled with guilt and grief he almost believed it.

Summary
Antinous turned around and, by some curse, saw Telemachus laying on the stone. After a moment Antinous moved towards the body. It was not as mangled as he hopped, but anything was better than nothing. The boy was lying on his stomach, eyes closed and mouth open. Antinous crouched down next to him to assess the damage. There was blood on his chiton, but not much. It didn’t have time to soak in yet. There was blood running down his face too, likely a head injury. It was a nice colour against the boy’s pale skin.
He turned Telemachus to face him. He brushed his bangs out of his face. The moonlight shone over those soft, feminine features Antinous had always mocked the prince for. Plump cheeks, full lips, and a straight nose just like his mother. The blood he had noticed before shimmered a deep crimson as it poured from the prince’s eyes. Soft, round eyes that always had a hint of curiosity in them.
Eyes that were now gone.

Telemachus used to dream about the day his father would come home. It didn’t matter the time of day or year, the weather or the season, there was always a scenario plotted in his mind. Every detail planned to the last second for every way of a conversation or action to go. It was an obsession, a monster that took up his mind every time there was a moment of silence. Every blank stare or mute conversation was a cover for the delusions he made up of his father’s arrival home.
But when he did finally arrive it was not the reunion he imagined, nor the man he imagined.

During their time alone away from home he is reminded of the past he threw away. The life of love and empathy he once had, and the possibility of finding it once again with the help of his prince.

“Ooh, a birthday party? For whom?” One of the nearby suitors asked, all smiley like this was actually something to be happy about. Had these idiots forgotten that the prince and his mother were quite literally public enemy number one?
Where the hell was their pride and rage?!
Kindness can be a lethal tool. It can topple even the most guarded of hearts, woo even the most jaded of suitors, inspire a major crisis of identity... or all of the above.
