Summary
Sokka doesn’t know what to think about the new student at his University, Zuko, or the recently-appeared Spiderman, but is forced to make up his mind during (too many) chance encounters.
"Sokka pressed the rag to the garish scars, trying to ignore how Zuko’s hiss sent a jolt down his spine. He rubbed the rag over the skin of his shoulder gently. Zuko flinched beneath him.
It felt like Sokka was holding his breath– the proximity and closeness of the other boy so unfamiliar. He reached out his hand, gripping Zuko’s bicep to hold him in place.
“Stop.”
Zuko gave him a sidelong glance, annoyance ricocheting across his features. Sokka met his eyes, doing his best to communicate only the new, infinite amounts of respect he had for Zuko. He wouldn’t give him any pity and didn’t dare to reveal his own compassion. Respect was all he could have. It was all Zuko needed anyway."

"Noticing all of the renovation work felt like encroaching on someone’s heartfelt work. He was sure it wouldn’t feel weird, but the house looked just so personal. The renovations were so painstakingly detailed and unique. Not your average real estate job. Someone with a passion worked on this. And for some reason, they weren’t working on it anymore."Characterization gets better later.

And Sokka almost laughs at that, just out of sheer misery.]
Things aren't the same after their little fieldtrip to the Boiling Rock. Sokka tries to navigate.

Okay, Bdubs thinks, and finds himself grinning, warmth uncurling inside him. It feels, weirdly, like rediscovering something. Like he’s been fumbling around in the dark and has finally found the lightswitch. Okay. Yeah, okay.
