Summary
"What are you doing?" Ekko finds himself gasping out in horror. He is fifteen, and he can't count on his fingers the amount of monsters he's killed with the stake he has slung over his back; he hadn't thought he'd find one, here. Perhaps he should have known better.
"Earning my keep," she replies, and she kneels over Joey's corpse, drawing a handful of vials from her belt. He can only watch in that same horror as she works, draining the blood from the body of someone Ekko had only just taken in, collecting it into the vials that she tucks right back into her belt as she's done.
"But why?" he couldn't keep the betrayal out of his tone, no matter how badly he'd want to.
She only smiles again, crooked and too-wide and yet lacking the one feature that would explain away her motivations, her eyes that haunting blue, her hair dragging in the mess she's made of the corpse on the ground. "Why not?"

Summary
The world seems to still, as her vision clears and she takes in the sight of the captain—Ekko—the man who’d been hunting her for months. His knee digs into her stomach, scowl marring his pretty face. Jinx can do nothing but wait for her fate to be sealed, his heartbeat so loud in her ears it’s almost enough to mimic what would have beat in her own chest.
It takes her four full seconds to realize he’s hesitating.
The pressure on her neck lessens, and the air that flows in tastes almost as sweet as the fresh inhales of ocean water. She’s close enough to Ekko’s face to smell the heavy breaths as he exhales, close enough to see the detail in his brown eyes.

Summary
She’s fifteen when it happens. Jinx has no one to blame but herself and her own curiosity, but in her defense, Sevika got drunk and just wouldn’t shut up about all the fun she got up to in Babette’s brothel. And in the Undercity, kids don’t stay kids for long. Jinx has grown up around this nonsense for years. So she bites the proverbial bullet and decides to see what all the fuss is about.
“It was one time!” Jinx complains in sheer disbelief. “It wasn’t even that good!”

Summary
