Summary
Detective Rogers is on a supposedly routine surveillance operation but something goes awry and he gets severely wounded by multiple gunshots. He bleeds out on the cold pavement, grappling with intense fear and mortality. Detective Weaver desperately tries to keep him conscious while making the heart-wrenching but necessary call to Alice, who rushes to the hospital with her partner Robin in fear for her father's life. After days of uncertainty about whether or not he'll make it, Rogers finally awakens. In a touching moment, he recognizes Alice and calls her by his nickname for her, 'Starfish'. His recovery is slow and challenging, and he struggles with his physical limitations but ultimately highlights how this near-death experience strengthens the profound bond between father and daughter and emphasises family love, resilience, and the power of emotional connections.
