Tatsumi, Kanji, on the other hand, spent his entire young adult life caring for his ill mother, who eventually succumbed to her illness.
Stricken with grief, and having no inheritance, Kanji is left stranded financially to keep his parents' business alive, but also keep the bills paid. With no other alternative to stable income, he resorts to illegal activities to keep his head above water.A year after his mother's death, he is surprised to finally hear from what he thought was his dear friend Shirogane, Naoto, who unfortunately dropped off the face of the earth during the most delicate and vulnerable time of his life. When she saves his life, he has to learn to trust her again, but also learn that it is always okay to ask for help.

Two years after the death of Nanako Dojima, the Investigation Team has gone their separate ways. They are forced back together again once the murders in the forever foggy town of Inaba start again, desperate to solve the case that drove them together and forced them apart. Trauma, regrets, and unspoken feelings plague the now broken members, and they will do anything to fix their greatest mistake. With a missing leader, no access to the TV world, and their personas completely gone, it all seems hopeless. But there has never been a case that Naoto Shirogane hasn't solved. This will not be the first.
(Set in the universe where the Investigation Team decided to throw Taro Namatame into the TV world after the death of Nanako Dojima.)
