Summary
Leia doesn’t know when she first noticed it. She knows it was early on in her life. She doesn’t know what it is at first. But she knows sadness when she sees it.
She tries to give her mom those tight hugs that seem to make everything better when she’s standing on the balcony alone, looking into the sunset.
She tries to distract her dad from those moments where something catches his attention and he gets that sad look on his face.
It isn’t until her parents give her a copy of an audio recording that she realizes what it is. There was supposed to be someone else here, she was supposed to have another person raising her as well.

And there’s something in there that Buck latches onto, and it wasn’t even Bobby bluntly saying that Buck was his kid.

Naturally. As might be expected. Needless to say. Obviously. Buck hadn’t expected himself to latch onto those two words, but maybe it was because Bobby had said them. And Buck hates that he doesn’t know what to do with those words, mouth opening and closing a few times before he decides that he needs more time to just think. Think of what to say and how to say it. “Of course?” Is what he ends up saying, and Bobby looks confused for a moment, trying to understand why out of anything that he had said, that was what the younger man seemed to have grasped. But then that confusion is gone just as quick as it had appeared, instead it’s replaced with a sad understanding.

“Buck’s a great dad. I would know, he’s my dad.” Chris sounds as angry as a teenager with a heart as big as his could be, Buck throwing a look over his shoulder to look at his son, the one that he would risk his life for. Had risked his life for.

Well– okay so other than this one other time after, when Athena somehow gets wind of what Buck admitted to them (money’s on Hen), and then Buck ended up meeting May which turned out to be a good experience for them both so now they’ve got this pseudo siblinghood bond and Athena’s looking at him with that slightly different light everyone’s got now despite their best efforts–
Point is, no one brings it up again.
But because it never gets brought up again, Eddie doesn’t know about it.
