Leia doesn’t know when she first noticed it. She knows it was early on in her life. She doesn’t know what it is at first. But she knows sadness when she sees it.
She tries to give her mom those tight hugs that seem to make everything better when she’s standing on the balcony alone, looking into the sunset.
She tries to distract her dad from those moments where something catches his attention and he gets that sad look on his face.
It isn’t until her parents give her a copy of an audio recording that she realizes what it is. There was supposed to be someone else here, she was supposed to have another person raising her as well.

Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”

Summary
“Buck,” he says softly. “He told me I had to be brave and that you would find me. And he said everything was going to be okay. He lied!” Chris yells the last part and Eddie's heart breaks.
Eddie pulls his son into his lap and scents him. He breathes in his pup's sorrowful scent and wants to wail. His son is so young to lose so many people. He buries his nose into Chris’s unruly hair again and breathes deeply and feels a flare in his chest. Buck scented him before letting him go. He can smell Buck on his son. Even in his desperation to get Chris to safety, he had thought to offer his son comfort, even offering his own shirt.
Eddie's alpha howls. Mate, mate, mate. Buck isn't his, he reminds himself again, but it doesn't seem to matter. All he wants is to have Buck in his arms.
A tsunami fic with omegaverse where Eddie finds Chris before he finds Buck and Buck is not doing too hot.
