Food history liberties were taken lovingly—I did my homework, but tweaked some details for storytelling, so please don’t roast me if it’s not 100% historically perfect.

Historical AU. Arthur Kirkland is a peasant who works for a psychopath and lives next door to the most irksome neighbors imaginable: Francis, who insists on inserting himself into everyone's life, and the Beilschmidts, who seem to scrape by on volume, grit, and alcohol. Meanwhile, Alfred Jones is an up-and-coming member of the nobility, prepared to take on the world. But when Alfred's lineage is called into question, Arthur suddenly finds himself the guardian of an unknown teenage half-brother...and realizes perhaps this was the part of him that's been missing, all along.
