For a whole year, Marissa has been preoccupied with the sun. Ever since she learned its luminosity was decreasing on that fateful Thursday, she’s become obsessed with addressing the issue the best she can while working at the Department of Energy sponsored Berkeley Lab in California. So when Eva Stratt offers her the chance to make a difference in the fight against global cooling, it only takes her a moment to agree.
She didn’t mean to drag her old friend Ryland Grace into it though. At least being the sidekicks of the de-facto world dictator is a little more pleasant with someone familiar around.
An AU where Grace’s grad school friend Marissa is brought onto the Petrova Taskforce. More of an exploration of character dynamics and the need to hold onto what makes us human in the face of a crisis than dealing with the butterfly effect. Mostly book canon but I was inspired to add a few things from the movie too. Also featuring an extremely generous helping of artistic liberty since canon Marissa has very little characterization.

Summary
After a year of the hardest work they’ve ever had to do in their lives, Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha have finally developed a liquid that can completely undo the petrification on a human being regardless of their state of consciousness. With the life-saving elixir at their fingertips, it’s time to start building a proper team for the grand effort of rebuilding civilization! Since complete strangers are unknown factors and potential liabilities, they decide to search for their former classmates and teachers, reasoning that it’ll make things go more smoothly at first.
But smooth is relative, and with a bigger group comes new challenges unlike what they’ve faced before. Not only that, but some revivals come with complications, and Senku’s knowledge isn’t perfect. Faced with the harsh reality of their new lives, the remnants of Hirosue High School must come together as one to rebuild the city of Tokyo, for they are the hope of humanity.

Senku, Taiju, and Yuzuriha are no strangers to ambitious projects. From model rocket launches to baseball training optimization to complex garment creation, the three childhood friends are quite familiar with difficult, demanding, and delicate work. With their combined skill sets, reconstructing civilization from scratch should be a cinch!
Only it isn’t as easy as it seems. Because from scratch really does mean from scratch, and as talented as they are, they’re still children of technological civilization, unused to the lack of grocery stores, online suppliers, and indoor plumbing. And there are so, so many ways to die in this new world. From dehydration to overexposure, bacterial infection to vitamin deficiency, our intrepid trio is in for the fight of their lives against Mother Nature herself, as well as a harrowing realization: There are some things you just can’t get back.
In short: Dr. Stone with a focus on survival, construction, and the psychological ramifications of being the survivors of a global apocalypse in your formative years.

Season 1 of my Voltron: Legendary Defender rewrite, which I started four years ago with the hopes of posting once I'd actually finished writing Season 1, but decided to post now bc YOLO.
Once, the galaxy was a peaceful, prosperous place to live. Hundreds of star systems filled with every sort of people imaginable lived and worked in harmony with one another, protected by the legendary warriors known as Voltron. But when the Galra Empire rose up against their neighbors, this gentle peace was forever shattered, and when the people called for Voltron, it did not answer. Abandoned for a thousand years, the hopes of the downtrodden have been reduced to mere whispers in the shadows, a fading light in the all encompassing hunger of Emperor Zarkon.
Where are the Lions? Where are their Paladins? Who alone can bring forth justice to the galaxy?
On a small blue dot known to the locals as Planet Earth, four teenagers are about to stumble into something spectacular.

Summary
My favorite elements of Dr. Stone have always been the building and scientific development parts—I enjoy the conflicts with the antagonists, sure, but it’s the scenes where Senku reinvents things beneficial to humanity as a whole that really resonate with me.
So then I thought, why not write a version of Dr. Stone that’s entirely about building, reinvention, and the genuinely terrifying implications of losing a significant chunk of Earth’s population as well as nearly all physical evidence of human history? I love city builder games, I love researching historic technology, and most of all, I love characters being faced with the crushing weight of unfathomably immense grief and finding ways to live with it. And then this happened.
This idea was originally manifested in my fanfic When The Lions Were Late, but for this hard reboot, I didn’t limit myself to trying to stick to a canon-compliant timeline, so I play a little fast and loose with events here. We’re going full self-indulgent fanfic, this is the Everything Bird Personally Likes story, and me and my 200 browser tabs are going on a beautiful journey together. See you in the post-apocalypse!

“Robot,” Yào calls out. “How long — how long was I asleep?”
The robot whirrs. “You have been in a medically induced coma for — one hundred — eighty — one — days,” it reports.
Yào’s not as quick at theoretical maths as Dr. Grace or Ilyukhina, but he’s pretty handy with the normal stuff. One hundred and eighty-one days is … just shy of six months. He runs the numbers again, counts them out slower in his head. It’s the same result.
It’s not enough time. It’s not nearly enough time. It’s not even enough time to be completely out of their fucking solar system.
Yào wakes up early.

It’s at this point that I realise I don’t know where I am.
And it’s at this point that I realise: I don’t know who I am.When Ryland Grace wakes up in a jail cell and Eva Stratt finds herself in the middle of a spacewalk, neither of them are particularly clear on how they ended up there. Grace must do his best to reverse-engineer whatever phenomenon landed him in Stratt's body, while Stratt must work with Rocky to investigate Tau Ceti's Astrophage population.
Unfortunately, Grace is stuck on Earth.
And Stratt doesn't remember a thing.
