Chihiro feels more uncomfortable than he ever has in his life: the loud music is making a headache build up behind his temples, the constant rubbing of bodies against his skin is overwhelming, and the ever-rising temperature in the club has sweat running down his back. He feels tempted to leave – there is nothing holding him back but his own stubbornness, no company that he can’t abandon, no one back home that will notice an early return. But still, despite all the discomfort, he persists. This venture took too much effort in preparation, too much time building up courage to go through with the plan – all to give up before even truly making an attempt. This is not who Chihiro is.
Who Chihiro is, though, is a sheltered home-schooled kid going through his rebellious phase, alone in a crowded club in the center of the city he’s never been to, eager to prove something to himself.

Summary
Shiba knows he shouldn’t look at Chihiro the way he does. He shouldn’t think about how well-trained Kunishige has made him, how quiet and submissive he is, or how the forced isolation has turned him so vulnerable and inexperienced, like a blank slate for whoever got their hands on him first. And he definitely shouldn’t read so much into Chihiro’s timid glances thrown in his direction, or the way he shies away from any accidental touch, but Shiba is a bad man, and those images keep him awake at night, giving him unwelcome ideas that should never be acted upon.
