During a game of truth or dare, Jackie unaware of the repercussions, drunkingly confessed that she had previously had a crush on Shauna when they were twelve and then a couple times after that. (she still does)
A month afterwards Taissa is reading a book in peace when she spots Jackie storming up to her in fright as if she had just committed murder. Except that wasn’t the case, Jackie was simply coming to terms with the fact she wasn’t the dominant team captain she’d thought she was.

Jackie pursed her lips, paused, and then met Tai's gaze. "I think any semblance of control I believed I had has simply evaporated. Even more unsettling, I'm beginning to suspect I never had it to begin with," she confessed, letting out a deep sigh as she settled into the silver chair.
Tai, growing even more bewildered, tilted her head and regarded Jackie with a perplexed expression. After another brief silence, Jackie continued.

She wondered how Jackie was doing, she liked to think that she found herself a rich boyfriend in Beverly Hills and was living the high life, Jackie is pretty, surely someone would scout her for modeling or something even if she was short. Maybe she’ll let herself loose and Shauna will see her in magazines like Playboy, like how it happened to Pamela Anderson or something.
(But those dreams are better than the nightmares where Jackie is laying dead in the streets of Hollywood, barely recognizable and her pigmentation light blue – an aftermath of some drug Shauna can’t even think of even in her worst nightmares, people just passing her by, and she’s not even bothering to ask for help because nobody would come.)
She wakes up crying every single time.

“Do you ever think about me?” The question is so out of left field that the shock must be so visible on Shauna’s face that Jackie actually, physically cringes. “Forget I said that.”
“I, uh, I take the train to college every day.” It fumbles from her mouth before she can stop herself, an admission that she hasn’t even told Pete and Jules why she takes it, they just assume she’s lazy as if she doesn’t run every evening and is the only one of them that can make it up the stairs without stopping.
“Ugh, I hate trains. Remember I threw up all over myself when we took the train to New York in eight grade?” Jackie rambles to fill the space, to understand why Shauna said that. Shauna shuts her eyes tight for a second, formulating what to say, but all that comes out is a pathetic:
“Yeah, it’s why I take them.”
“What?”
“The seats are shitty and plastic and it would be cheaper to walk but they remind me of you, because you hate them.” She pauses, running a hand through her hair. “Jackie, did you really think that I’d forget about you?”
