Summary
It washes over my skin. It eases the tension in my shoulders, the creases in my forehead. It burrows into my very bones, knits itself into my veins and soothes some of the ache in my chest that I’ve been carrying around for years beyond count. It feels like being embraced from the inside out.
And when I come back to myself, part of me is still there.
I’m still just a boy - trapped in an old, jaded man’s body, with the taste of honey on his tongue and a chip on his shoulder that’s becoming increasingly harder to carry.
- - - - -
Between finding a new balance in his role as First Mate to Edward Teach, navigating the uncharted waters of friendship, and meeting a man who offers him both affection and honey in equal measure, Izzy gets to wondering if maybe happiness isn’t such an unobtainable thing - and whether or not it’s something he’ll allow himself to have.

Summary
“I wasn’t there?” Ed asks. Stede nods. “Wasn’t where, sweet? Where was I supposed to be?”
“With me.” That answer comes quicker, like it’s obvious even to Stede’s fever-addled brain that Edward Teach is supposed to be with Stede Bonnet. “Something took you, and you weren’t with me. I couldn’t find you.”
“You wanna talk about it?” Ed asks gently. Stede nods. “What took me, love?”
Stede’s lip wobbles desperately. “I don’t know,” he manages, strained and frantic as the tension in his throat finally breaks into a great, heaving sob, pitching him forwards into Ed’s arms.

Summary
“Do you remember when you tried to do my maths homework for me?” Nick asked. “This was back we’d only just met, and I was doing my homework literally on the way to the lesson, and you just grabbed my pen.”
“I remember,” Charlie smiled at the memory. “You drew on me. It was an assault.”
Nick snorted. “It was self-defense.”
OR: Nick has a surprising question for Charlie.

Summary
"You should write about other things. Other than dogs."
Adam glances at him before lowering his gaze on the grass around him, passing slowly his fingers through the green stems. "Like what?"
"I shouldn't be the one telling you what to write about. Everyone feels differently about different things."
