Summary
After Echo contacts the rest of the Batch, letting them know that Crosshair has been rescued from a prisoner transport, no force in the galaxy can stop Hunter from taking his squad and going to Rex’s hideout on Yavin IV where Crosshair is recovering. Maybe he’s safe now, but that doesn’t erase everything that’s happened between them, and nor does it mend the rifts that have been torn.

Tech pauses, eyes flickering towards Omega, strangely enough, and that sends a tendril of concern down Hunter’s spine. “The toxin is an aphrodisiac,” he replies, “And the effect on his body will largely depend on how much he absorbs.” He hesitates again, before continuing, “It is possible that there will merely be a short-lasting discomfort, but it may also require… intervention.”
Crosshair growls quietly. “Kriffing great.”
Hunter very carefully doesn’t look at his brother, keeping his gaze focused on Tech instead.

The Batch might have Crosshair back, they might have rescued him from Tantiss, but that doesn’t wipe away everything that’s gone down between them. It is slow progress to reintegrate him to their team, and finally, Hunter agrees to take the Batch on a “treasure hunt” that Phee has been talking about in the hopes that it’ll bring them together. Of course, it goes a little wrong, as all things with them do, but maybe it’ll also help him and Crosshair put something of their own back together.

A mission gone wrong leaves Crosshair bitten by a strange creature. But blood loss, if dealt with quickly, is nothing to worry about. All he needs is rest and time. Except something about him has… changed. Crosshair is no longer the same as he once was.

“Did he stay the night?” Mayday asked, glancing back at the rumpled and empty bed even as both arms circled Crosshair’s waist.
A faint nod, as Crosshair threaded his fingers through his and squeezed, which he returned with a press of his own.
It was only the second time Hunter had stayed over. After their first encounter the tattooed former sergeant had retreated, as if he couldn’t quite believe that it was not a one-time thing. Slowly, ever so slowly, Hunter had come round to the idea that not only was his presence not an imposition, it was actively desired – by both parties.

Fox stepped into Mercy’s office with the feeling of his heart flipping over in his chest front and center, a mark of anxiety that he refused to let show on his face. The CMO’s office was a tiny thing, space carved out of a former cleaning closet, but it was big enough for a cot and a desk, a rolling stool shoved between. Fox lazily saluted Mercy, and she rolled her eyes at him.“Armor off,” she said tightly. Fox didn’t protest the tone - he was there for a reason, and they both knew it. He stripped down to his blacks, and hauled himself up onto the cot. A few months ago, it had creaked every time he sat on it. Now, it was silent.
Part of him, the part that was foolish, hoped that Mercy had just oiled the wheels. The rest of him knew the bitter truth.
